This was another fun one for me, especially doing the backing vocals. The song is a bit haphazard, structurally speaking, and my performance has some technical issues, but it was just fun to play.
The riff came to me early one, but kept elluding…
Bouncy, with ear candy. Wanted to do something different with this one, keep it from being too predictable. I think I succeeded. I also happen to really like my "squawk, squawk" gtr stabs in the verses.
The title track. I still like this one, though it is somewhat dense, sonically speaking. Another song where I think I pulled of the lyrics relatively well.

Well, what can I say here? I knew I wanted to do this one with a pseudo dark, smoky old jazz club feel. I kind of pulled it off, but not completely. The song itself was a happy accident riff. I picked up my acoustic, threw a capo on for fun and…
The horn line came first, I started humming it in the garage one very cold morning in Feb. I was stuck for a title, until a friend used Kismet in a sentence. It's a fun bouncy number, though the mix is kind of bad.
So this one was a melody I had floating around for a couple of years. It originally came to me in driveway while getting the car. Who knew that walking around from the passenger side to the driver's side could be so inspirational. Anyway, I originally…
I really debated uploading this one. It's kind of weak production wise, but it was part of the album. You may love it, hate it, but I decided to keep everything intact. Warts and all...
So, I start playing my Guild acoustic. However, the strings were new and had gone all slackish, meaning down a few tones. I liked what it sounded like and took them all off. I then restrung the gtr with super heavy guage acoustic strings. I then…

agree with the fella about the groove of this one. like riding a wave. awesome. like the disintegration at the end too. good move. Was that backwards vocals?
One of my first favorite songs...I had this idea floating around for years, even tried it with the band in late 98-99. This 2001 recording comes closest to capturing what I hear in my head.

This song sounds best if you can drive through Hollywood Hills, or anywhere in Southern CA. Funny how I happen to live in NH, eh? Another song that came from a simple gtr line (the intro).
Ok, so on this one I wear my influences on my sleeve. This is one that quickly went in one direction so I decided to ride it to the maximum. I still like the words to this one. I'm no Costello (Elvis) but I did ok here.

A long one, something of a centrepiece for the record. Open tuning and ebow fun.

Fancied trying some fast piano. This one sounds like the single to me.
This is the first piece that I recorded - just after midnite on Feb. 1st. with Anne Cozean in mind as vocalist. Anne and I have worked together before and she delivered a great performance across two tracks. I was thinking Portishead going in…
eyes all around
thought surveillance, the fighting on the ground
dont abuse the diguise the one they made,
should never be altered
now we fear , the words we say, descent in
the shadows
we must hide to survive the thought police their searching…
billy boy where did you go
sittin in a pile of snow
come on down its gettin cold
for the time is getting old
well we made our way to the old wigwam
frozen lake and wind was calm

None of us knows where we'll be tomorrow,
Let alone 2 weeks from this date.
Will I still be in this place?
"It's okay", she says, "I'll definitely call you later."
If I don't go and forget to,
And if I'm still living here.
Can we say we see a…
