Another soothing, kind of playful fingerpicking tune, in something like E minor.
I had intended to put some lyrics over the rhythm track, but then I was having fun with the lead and decided to just keep it this way for now. Maybe another version…
My attempt at this super fun sea shanty!
This is an old New Zealand whaling song. The popular recent version was recorded a cappella by The Longest Johns. I'm using the chords suggested by Piotrek_G on ultimate-guitar.
Edit: re-uploaded…

A very soft cover of the Barenaked Ladies' hit, Brian Wilson. Their (excellent) tune is normally played with gusto. The live version on the Rock Spectacle album is dripping with energy, and that's usually how I like to play it. But today I thought…
A brighter tune, for sunny Saturday afternoons.
Lyrics:
It's a Saturday afternoon
Got better things to do
But it's a Saturday afternoon
And I'm thinking about you
Autumn's in the air
Crisp breeze, open windows
It's a sunny afternoon…
A silly, sort of dreamlike / lullaby-ish tune, about weird travels on a bubble-gum balloon.
Lyrics:
See one time I was chewing bubble gum and it was mighty fine
I blew a bubble so big it took me up into the sky
So this is the story of where…
A short 2-track guitar tune. I was trying to get that feeling of going out in public after lockdowns are all over. Sort of a combination of relaxing and frantic, I guess?
Playing with my new Zoom B1X effects processor. Synthesized drums are from the B1X. Bassline is a panicky one I like to play. The guitar part I just came up with. Altogether I think I like it -- anyway it gets my pulse up!
Well, it's a work…

A simple one-track mandolin tune. In fact it's the first tune I ever made on the mandolin. I think it would be better with a bodhran drum accompanying it, but I don't know how to play those!
Maybe someday this will work its way into something…

A simple guitar groove. Haven't sat in a coffee shop since before the lockdowns, and I miss the atmosphere and the music! This tune feels to me like sitting in a cafe.
(Every time I think it's done, I end up tweaking it a bit more in Audacity…
Inspired by a gift from my Cousin Danita, a bird whistle.

Pat Bondi here at Alonetone does a great and quite different version of this folk song entitled Maiden on the Shore, so I dug into my demo archives and found this version that I recorded long ago. Long before the Internet, I used to listen…
I wanted to record a version of this lovely traditional East Coast Canada / USA tune. It's been done many times, in different ways, with variations on the lyrics. I've leaned on Solas's and Stan Rogers's versions, and added a verse of my own…
Another French folk song that I thought I’d have a go at recording today. It’s a lovely little tune about gathering around the table with friends. I learned this one from one of Marcel Bénéteau’s CDs.
Lyrics:

I'll Tell Me Ma is a folk song in the Irish tradition. I recorded it with acoustic instruments, multiple vocal tracks, and spoons for the main percussion, to give it that kitchen party feel!
I did it in the key of C. Not exactly normal, but…

Another silly little tune, this time about the world's favourite stout! (Edit: uploaded a new version. Fixed a few mistakes.)
Lyrics:
When the sun is up high, in a bright blue sky
And you're walking around in Dublin town
You got nothing…
I'm glad you liked it! I've been to Ireland only once. Only had time to hang out in and around Dublin, but I did get to visit St. James's Gate and a few of the pubs. It'd be very cool to go back and see the country!

Part 1 of a travelling trilogy. Played on electric guitar in Dropped D Tuning. On the Wetband site here at Alonetone I overdubbed some slide guitar and bass: https://alonetone.com/wetband/playlists/traveling-trilogy/traveling-on-by-woody-b…
Sometimes life tends to repeat itself if you're not careful.... Good to find a moment to recognize old patterns and shake them off.
Great help on this one from the MN Coffee Table Gang - Greg Connor on guitar and vocals, and Mark Lofgren…
I'm trying my hand at creating instrumentals for Sync Licensing. This track is actually one file containing 3 pieces of music: Orion's Belt 1, 2 & 3.
You can find my instrumentals on Pond5. Here is the address:

I found a CD with a lot of my old songs on it, many I have re - recorded and are on here. This one I had forgot about. The Good Wife does her bit on it.
Thanks, Greg!
Close: the lead is a mandolin. It has a fuller sound than normal because I recorded two tracks with a mandolin playing the same thing.
There's also guitar, bass, harp, pennywhistle, bongo, and bodhran in there.
Just in time for St Patrick's Day . . . . And with any luck we might have a bonus "LIVE" Leprechaun track coming soon. The Minnesota Coffee table met and recorded a fun version last night.

Great presence...She's a keeper
I like this!
Think I met that boy. Gatlinburg in mid-July!
Cool imagery. Nice story, but I bet more than bubble gum was involved.
That's nice...
Yep, raised my pulse too. Nice one.
And this is mighty fine playing.
Every now and then I'm struck with "One day I'll get a mandolin..." and noodles like this encourage that.
Love it.
Oh yes, lets all Jig about ....
Nice noodling
This is good! It makes me happy too.

I haven't been on Alonetone much lately. Nice to drop in here and hear one of your songs though :)
Nicely done! I enjoyed this one a lot.
Oh this is great, Wayne! Love it :)
Thanks, Wayne! Have you recorded your version? I'd love to hear it.
Thanks Wayne :) I'm really enjoying learning and playing traditional folk tunes lately.
Thanks :) I'm glad you guys liked it! This is probably one of the best recording sessions I've done to date.

Lovely melodies in this one. And yes, it's very good to remember: I'm not too old, not too young, and I'm not stuck :)
Fun little tune, and I like the lyrics!
Love it! Downloading and putting on repeat for a while...

This one's working for me :)
