I'm including this, beacause I want to be able to say, and demonstrate, just what Steve Buzzell, my musical partner and collaborator means to several of the songs that are either here already, or will follow. This is all Steve. In all the songs…
Simple little song. My view on how love really falls apart. Last verse is in my opinion an add-on. I wrote it after the rest, at the behest of someone who thought it was too "un-hopeful". It may have been a goood thing.

This recording has been through hell, pretty much like I was when I wrote this: It was recorded written and played by me, on a fostex four track. At the time even true love had let me down, and decided its dreams "for" me were more important than…
Pretty impressive track considering it was recorded on a four track. It brought back memories from the late 60's and early 70's when my bandmates and I recorded on a reel to reel. Sometimes in the midst of these digital advances, I miss those days.
You live long enough... you take some real hits. And the only way to get on, is, to, "Pick myself up, walk down the long long road". Lifes real easy when it's all theoretical, but it's never been lived until the theories and philosophies are trashed…
This is just the beginning on this song. We haven't put the bridge in yet, it was a jam between Steve and I (Steve played that awesome Sax track, and about three guitar parts, organ..)It was just too much fun, but still... undone.
everything on this has a light floating quality as if it's hovering just above the ground...love the sax...and your vocal builds in the best way. A Great recording!

"Simple little song?" Simply tasty. Easy swingin' with words that sink pretty deep. Vocals. Well, I've listened to several here - it's as if David Bowie, Lou Reed, Jim Morrison and Mark Knopfler could do all this. which I guess means, they couldn't you can. You just make your songs so intimate to the heart. I'll be listening

This is probably to personal, to raw to put here, but I've been listening to some pretty courageous stuff here in alonetone. This is more of an occurence, a onetime performance, more of a memorial, than a recording. My dad had died recently, I…

Well, the truth is I run a little hot. I think maybe all artists do. Creative fire is creative fire. Sorry about the vocals here, this is the scratch track, didn't have time to lay down the real thing before the clock struck twelve and I turned…
I don't think there is anything wrong with the vocals on this one, spot on I would say. I love your voice. It's a combination of Tom Waits and David Bowie - and what feels like years spent paying your dues. I'm a fan.

Thanks for all the great comments. Any of my stuff you want to sing on, you go right ahead. I do live in Oregon, moved here in 2004 to retire and play music. It's been wonderful.

The Dance moves in all of us. It's our inner nature, our link to the universe, and greatly submerged and denied.
The Dance:
The dance commences,
pulse fills our senses,
To lead us to where we begin…
Oh, yeah, and my toes curl when you say anything good about my vocals (kidding) The dance was one of those songs I made it up as I sang it. The bridge was a total surprise, to me and to Steve, when I sang it. You know how it is? A song I'd never heard before, a melody I'd never sung before, came belting out words and all. Man was I thankful I don't practice without the record light shining! Background vocals: Oh god thanks for the comments there. Huge stretch for me. I did them all myself, except for the heavenly female high end part (Done by Wendie Gipson)There are actually something like three more parts, but I had to start wrapping things up for the challenge. Thanks again from the bottom of my heart

Thanks for the comments on this one, everyone. This my RPM "preferred" track. My first "reverse" collaboration. Steve Buzzell brought me the music as classical guitar and piano. I walked around with it for months, came up with lyrics and melody, sent it back to steve and laid out that lead guitar. It was sweet, but to "passive", so I ran his part through a guitar processor and "dirtied" (I wanted it as passion-wracked as the song is)it up. I hope he can forgive me. his guitar work is just so good, plus so intuitive. he gets what I need for the song. (His sax playing will just kill you).
This provides a theory which ties together two of my key traits a) always tired b) terminally disappointed by peoples lack of courtesy - there's a link people!
Did you ever feel so down
That you didnt know up
Didnt recognise highs
And smiles…
I've been listening to your songs, so take this as words on them all. You write with a great intimacy, you back your lyrics with music that fits the words like a glove-guitar(s) and melody. I could run this alongside me during my day and still feel it fresh.
A Song About an old Saying......
Sh*t Happens......

-In A Day-
Half a Glass of Gasoline
Mixed with Some Kerosene
Stirred in with Coffee
Laced with amphetamine
All That it Takes in A Day
To get by…
This was my last rpm2010 piece. i had recorded the rhythm track in early feb, and put the triple mandolin harmonies on at the very end of feb. i really love mandolin harmonies...this has more of a mediterranean vibe...
I'm a complete idiot when it comes to all things midi related. Recently got myself a midi keyboard though and came up with this short piece just messing with sounds in Proteus. Really looking forward to the possibilities of combining this sort…
Mining the archives a bit. This is an alternate take of my "Jimi Jam" from a couple of years ago. Live to 2 tracks with the Jamman. Really only sounds OK when cranked up loud enough that your eardrums threaten to meet in the middle. LOL!!
oh ho! somebody rocks! so very tasty. had me movin' right across the floor. I would be very calm and satisfied afte laying down those lines..... so it must work, this anger management.
Sitting around in my shop a couple of days ago with the Goodall and the Zoom H4N. First time I've really messed with using the internal mics on the H4N in multitrack mode
The vodka, ahhh. One of 3 that I recorded to a dimming flashlight during a power outage.
One take into the Micro BR hole with some harmony and noodle overdubs.
Vodka
I want the vodka
'Cause I know it's gonna make me play better…
gee.... I've recorded under the same influence! "Excuse me sir... but could you tell us, for all your listeners out there, what was your influence in making this music?" "Oh, I'd say it was vodka....".
I recorded this one to a dimming flashlight on the 25th after a windstorm took out my power. I couldn't see the lyrics anymore so I ad libbed and hummed the rest out. My recording device is battery operated, which is cool.
This predicament…
Nice, Launched. I'm a fan of the sparce, (when I do it I call it"austere", "minimalist", pisses off my friends who believe a song has to have certain things in it to be bonafide, and I love doing that too!)And, thanks for the listen, and the comments. New Hampshire? I'm in Kittery Point. Maybe we'll collide at the listening party.

Great tune , good work.
Excellent tune. I'm diggin' this "Simple little song".
Steve is a very talented guy! This is Beautiful!

Your music has a real earthy yet urban cowboy vibe... this one has got a wicked groove...I dig.
everything on this has a light floating quality as if it's hovering just above the ground...love the sax...and your vocal builds in the best way. A Great recording!

instant.. very catchy, great subtle vocals
I can't wait to see what happens you've "finished" it!
super awesome!!
Soulful vocals and the sax is awesome! Love it! Did you know that there's about 3 minutes or so of dead space at the end of the mp3?
stunningly powerful.
love the vibe. very velvet u . but really nice in its own way. well done.

This is a marvelous soundscape - intense, raw, yet somehow soothing. Brilliant work!!

Thanks for sharing this.
I like your attitude man. Rules for writing?? That's a scary thought indeed.
Cool! Like that repeating guitar riff a lot

David Byrne would have liked to have written and sung this... too bad for him, you did, and it's all you.
You take free music and give it wings. Thanks for this.

Ahhhh, Lordy... add no more... it'll never need it. whatever you do, keep this simple pure and and austere as your lyrics.... so very fine
Mmmmmmm... sittin' here sippin' my Mimosas, laying on the beach in the Riviera..... life is good. Nice job
I like the steel, too. And I like the fade vox at the end of your verses... nice effect and brings the feel to the front.
Flying on, flying free
