The theme for Improv Friday this week is "variations". So here's an improv reconstruction of the one classical piece I know, Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring.

#4 for the RPM Challenge.
Have you heard this melody before? This is one of those where I wonder if I've unconsciously "borrowed" something from someone. Translation: the Fly Boat, like the tourist boats that ply the river Seine and their bright…
Ditty #10 for RPMC. I really had a hard time trying to come up with the final track, so I fell back on the old loop/delay/ebow improv formula, which I had hoped to avoid on this album. Kind of acoustic Breaking Light. Well it crossed the finish…

Ditty #9 for the RPMC album "Bones".
I'd had this rolling around in my head for about a year now, and even played it live with the SD&Q trio. Didn't quite turn out as planned, which is not unusual.

Song #2 for the RPMC. My goal is to have 12 short tunes (1-3 minutes long), so I need to pick up the pace.
Again, quartal tuning on the top 3 unison pairs of the 12 string. I've been listening to Ralph Towner's Blue Sun, hence the title.

I took this bus trip from Forth Worth, Texas to Wheeling, West Virginia and on the way home I jumped off in Cincinnati and bought a ticket to Nashville... Lots of stuff happen when you are on a bus and in bus stations for over 60 hours.
Here…
Took a while to work on this one. There is a 3 or 4 minute intro that came out of a remix contest that I had just finished and it seem to go nice with this crazy loud and mixed up piece. Listen to the whole thing and you'll see that it may even…
Playing guitar while watching a storm come in on weather radar.
Fernandes guitar with the sustainor pickup system. It's like an ebow for all the strings at once! Loads of fun :)
This is just a tease. You have to go to www.rpmchallenge.com and look for NO ID under the "A" listing.... don't ask ... just go and enjoy the full piece. And HEADPHONES,don't want you to miss all that sub bass!!!
My wife is slowly collaging the walls of our studio with random sayings and images from magazines, artwork, photography, album art ect... so I had the idea to pull all of my lyrics for this track from the walls.

What's my next…
Keyboard and Electric Bass Guitar by Otis Maly, Percussion by Matt Santana
One of three tracks that my friend Otis jammed on during February 2012. This is the first mixdown I've done since he laid down the keys back in mid-February of 2012…
one of my earliest works. loud, clipping and brash as hell, but it has some good ideas!
part of a bigger concept album, will upload it soon, hopefully you'll find it entertaining
24-hour album.
This album is a collage of several disconnected pieces recorded & mixed over 18 hours or so.
I've left it as a single long track, but here's a sort of navigational guide if you want to skip around:
0:00 - 1:30 = Living…
Kirk, the humbucker, I think this is it. It came with the guitar. http://www.guitarcenter.com/LR-Baggs-M1A-Active-Soundhole-Magnetic-Pickup-103213047-i1177543.gc?source=4WWRWXGP&kpid=103213047

This classic has been done to death and most versions (including my own) are parody..but this one has an interesting take.
This got buried way too quick on the front page so I'm bumping it. Excellent, Jeff!
