Some reflections after recording this song:
1. Mic positioning for a live take can drive you crazy
2. The lowest note I can comfortably sing is an A
3. A tortured soul can somehow write an amazing love song
4. I still have much to learn
The title track. At one point I had visions of everyone singing at the end of the album (and thank you to those of you that did), but I just couldn't get it to sound right (I don't really know what I'm doing after all). So instead of voices…
My wife woke up one morning and said "I had a dream about (someone we'd just lost) the other night." When I asked her if she was okay, she replied, "Yeah, it was good to see her again."
A simple as it is musically, this song pretty much sums it all up for me. What started as the simple appreciation of a hiking t-shirt evolved into this song about the duality of this domesticated artist who recognizes the importance of wandering…

So I'm watching Ken Burns' documentary on the National Parks and realize that I'd never written that John Muir song I had been meaning to get to... So I got to it. Tim Alexander (Letter Seventeen) mentioned that he thought the song needed a…
A slightly destructive children's song... But I suspect that many of you have tried some of the things mentioned.
I have a great idea up in my head
Let's try it out this afternoon
We'll tie the dog up to the sled

Well, this may be the final tweaking of this nice little sing along song...
I sent this fun little sing along off to Jim of MTC fame, and once again he has outdone himself... And I can't thank him and his wife (who appears covertly) enough…
Vocal excellence from girl named Sam... Do you really need any other reason to listen?

Inspired by Tess' little Morwenna and my (getting bigger) Jessica. Writing back and forth with Bethan, I came to realize that a song needed to be written about the significance of the statements that so often come from the mouths of babes…
Three years ago, I brought my two youngest up to the summit of a local mountain (actually, we went up Shelving Rock Mountain, but that song wouldn't be as good). Have a listen to see how that hike went.

My first completed 2013 RPM track. Thanks to Kavin for turning a simple acoustic song into what you hear today.
ONE LAST DANCE
I never got to tell you what's been on my mind
It might be just as well now that we're running out of time…
Just a little cover tune I did in preparation for last year's live RPM Challenge album "Letters."
Nylon string Yamaha travel guitar, vocals, and one mic... Missed notes and all.

Black Cat
Words and Music by Tharek Mokbul ( OsCKilO )
My heart will miss a beat
Each time
I see your pain
I know this is the end
But I
Will fight this tide
The battle is complete
Both sides
Have won this time
I will remember you
So proud…
A Song I wrote about a friend of mine who used to Jump out of planes a lot.
This is one of the hidden tracks on my new album "Black Cat" which features Beth, Keith and Reewfwalker from alonetone and Geir and Jim from Songcrafters.

Wow... Outstanding arrangement. I'm always floored by the perfect acoustic guitar on these tracks, and the violin (and other instruments) fill this tune out beautifully!

This one was inspired by Wen's mom; and is therefore dedicated to all those musicians doing RPM, and all musicians who toil away at home to make their music despite what their friends & co-workers might think of their efforts.
Well, I was introduced to this outstanding track by a couple of hyperactive rabbits and thought I should listen to the pre-bunny funk version. Outstanding track! Great work!!!
Fast forward time, 9 years to the day, and I am in a check-out lane.
You're standing there 3 or 4 feet away, pretending not to notice.

Finally got this song balanced properly (after so many weeks of listening and editing, listening and editing). It somehow seems so long ago that we were all covered in snow now that winter has finally relented.
Ah... Glad I thought to come looking for this track again!... I thought you might like to hear my song with the same name (about one of my former students / piano players... who very much likes your music, by the way).

Well, after my conversation (if you could call it that) with my Seagull Mini-Jumbo, I started playing THIS song...
So now my guitar has filed for legal separation. I guess it never realized what true musicianship was all this time. It actually had the nerve to ask for Gary's email to see if he'd be at the Listening Party in Portsmouth (as if it thinks I'll still bring it along to meet Gary face-to-fretboard).
A brief glimpse, but that's all. Inspired by last April. It's for everyone, but no one in particular. Yes, this one gives more than a passing nod to Ham and Evans. Thanks gents!
Just by to listen to the awesomeness again... I actually had the crazy idea of trying to cover this song with just a stripped down arrangement on the acoustic, but when I mentioned it to my guitar it angrily asked if I was "friggin' nuts" and went off to gripe in the corner of the room, mumbling something about my inadequacies as a musician and foolishness to try to mess with perfection.
We aren't speaking now. I'll try to re-establish contact with the six-string's representation by offering to play some James Taylor on it later, but after hearing this track I don't think it'll be interested in my version of "mediocre guitar playing" (I quoted the guitar on that one) any time soon.
In 1979, my father came home from the record store with an album that forever changed my life, Pete Seeger's Circles & Seasons. Before I knew Pete to be the blacklisted folk icon that had been on the humanitarian side of every fight since…

Looking forward to an Osckilo night at the Landry house to hear this album in its entirety.

This is the goods! Once again, you find the perfect words and arrangement. Well done, my friend.
Too good for radio.
Left speechless by this album.
Damn... This is one hell of an album... Sorry I missed you at the listening party for a CD trade! Will be doing some downloading here instead!
Oh, the best one yet... Magnificent piece in every way.
Another gem, this one.
Excellent track!
Good to see this up in the #1 spot. Just absurd talent. Incredible stuff, Kavin.
Absolutely brilliant.
So where's the ACL fan club? Do I need to start a chapter? HA, the Toby Keith T-shirt!!!

Just giving this a little bump in honor of the release of Pete Seeger's "Circles & Seasons" album on CD... About to play my newly acquired copy!
