The best covers are the ones that have a unique take. BTW did you know Mick Jagger sang backup vocals on the original?
Very nice interpretation, the sparseness really adds. Addictive.
And thanks so much for your kind words. They really mean a lot.
A night hawk sings. A church bell rings. Echoes flood the night.
A stillness tides past the languids of the park. Then you shuffle by.
Beneath your mack, though there is no rain, your eyes catch mine for a while.
You stop, I suppose to see…
Still learning the keys.
This will be the last cover for some long while. It just seemed like something fun to practice on since everything that appears in my head is usually slow and sad. Now I can practice on something fast and sad!
I…
This is from Dylan's album Oh Mercy. In spite of an intention to stop posting covers of songs and work on something angry and new, I got to the end of this without messing up the piano and only barely mangling the lyrics, I got too excited and…
This is the last one. Letting go is not something I am good at, but this is the last one.

You could feel your mother and your father scold,
But you only regret what you fail to behold.
After all, it was a once in a lifetime scene…

This was an attempt at using the keyboard to make an instrumental invoking looking for something, thinking it had been found, then finally finding it. Or, put another way, this was a way to practice piano.
Hello Mike. Thank you for the tips on miking a kit, tips that I’ll definitely take into consideration.
As far as your inquiry of our influences, we’re three dudes who have all been in bands both together and otherwise since the 1980’s. Our influences are all over the place, but I’d say that pop music from the 1960’s looms large with all of us…me especially. Almost all of my tunes are straight-up attempts at capturing that groovy vibe….anything that the Wrecking Crew worked on, as well as the mop-tops.
I’m a genuine fan of your stuff, so please keep ‘em coming.

This song was a favorite of a dear friend we lost a year ago. It felt like a good song to practice the piano. This was the first try -- not that it was good, but it just kept getting worse.

I'm not a stickler for pristine recordings....in fact, there are albums that I insist sound BETTER on old vinyl.
This recording is soulful, raw and terrific. Well done.

used to know your breathing
in the dark beside me
now the nights repeating
all my faults and broken dreams
Chorus
oh-oh-oh-oh
I’m not sure how to begin
oh-oh-oh-oh
when I can’t take and I can’t give
oh-oh-oh-oh

Sometimes it's impossible to know how to express what true art does to your heart and mind. But everything about this... I hope you know how good this is. This is that kind of art.
Another for the RPM Challenge ...... Reg got broke by three little words
Three little words
She said
I love you
but she lied to me
She told me I was hers
till the end
Those three little words made me lose my way…
You say "We look happy here"
Pointing at a picture frame
My arm around your shoulder
all this happiness, never any pain
Your mom pinned it on the fridge
Called it "perfect finally"
But no one saw you later
yelling "This is killing me…
Ik verlang weer naar de zomer
Alsof hij me iets schuldig is
Een stoel kraakt onder herinneringen
En de tijd die stil blijft staan
Een plastic tafel vol kringen
Van glazen die we al lang vergaten
De lucht hangt laag en zwoel
Alsof hij…
Tom is back! Didn't know this one at all and had to go have a listen to Neil's. You gave this cover more than justice. Very good and hope you share more with us soon.
Reg actually woke up feeling positive this morning. I believe it was due to his sober evening and being in bed by 10 pm . Its a new him for 2026 or is it? let hope so .....Happy New year all x
Today is a beginning
Today is…
It’s nice having our original lead guitarist back for a visit….special thank-you to Keith for his work on Matt’s song.
Lyrics…..
Hey you, little man inside a choo-choo
You do it differently than I do.
Hey man, I hear you’re on a big-plan…
From where I lay I can see the morning sky
The colour of a car mechanic’s rag
He made love so quick. Too quick
Only thing missing was the chequered flag.
I sit up in bed as he mumbles some crap
Post coital cigarette smoke still in the air…
I always hate comparing artists, but will say that I had to go listen to Ricky Lee Jones half-way through this to cure a sudden case of painful nostalgia...then started this one over again. It's brilliantly done as usual.
Hi gang.
The Proods are back....Brian at the helm this time.
Our methodology is thus....one of the 4 of us introduce a song, and then we'll bang out a finished track in under an hour with as few over-dubs as possible. This one we put some effort…
Agree with jimgoodinmusic... Byrds tone sneaks out on the guitar and percussion. Would love to find out who all of your influences are for the band.
In response to your hopefully slightly tongue-in-cheek comment about drum clarity to TonyCee... I always found letting the mics mug the kit like 3" away from everything and then an aggressive high pass filter got everything as clear as possible without muddle. That's exactly what professionals don't do... :D
Anyway, great as always.
wrote this about 10yrs ago ,drums programmed , mixed and mastered , produced , by myself , bass , rthm guitars lead guitar , vocals , backing vocals , by myself , hope you like it , cheers tony cee
To echo everyone else, this one has a great, clear overall sound to it. I would bring that clean guitar up in the break or bridge a smidge.... it's too nice to not get a louder voice! And speaking of which, nice vocals too. Always enjoy your tunes.
The clue is in the title Reg woke up feeling a little disgruntled with the world ....
Screwed up & wary
You say tell me your secrets
but all you’ll hear are my lies
The compromised childhood
remember…
Been busy all week preparing for the winter weather and getting stuff ready for the horses and sheep to see them through winter. But with the torrential rain today i thought a guitar day was to be and this came out…
this is a new song not much to it , all instruments played by myself , drums , programmed ,by myself, vocals and backing vocals by myself, thanks for your time ,cheers tony cee
Getting lost in the maze from time to time is just part of life
The maze of misfortune
I get one step forward and three steps back
Can’t see where I’m going
Lifes so dark and black
Looking ahead seems stupid and pretty…
This one is marvelously cool. The swing-ish notes and drumming are captivatingly disorienting in a great way. The lyrics wind up hitting close to home. I think I am mishearing the line in the chorus as "beneath my anthill parachute," which is fine with me because that's an amazing lyric. :) Great one.
Subdued - adjective: quietened and brought under control
poor old Reg has been told again.....
Subdued
Sky burning bright with that jagged blue
She’s Off to bed with that dinnner for two
She read youlike…
Simpler Days is a ballad by drummer-Matt.
While I was mixing it the words caught me off guard and the song stirred up some emotional stuff that I'm hoping might come through for the wider listening public.
This has a nice country joe groove and feel to it and I love the melody. It would help to share the lyrics they aren't really standing out enough for these old ears... not a criticism just sayin' I'm old. :) Thank you for sharing as always.
Comments on Mike Denison (Lumberfork)'s stuff
I’m liking the piano sounds like a real one rather than midi but I’m probably wrong
For being angry, the light touch on the piano brought a bit of sunshine. That’s the best way to channel all that anger indeed!

Great vocal
Ok, this is great! Your voice is perfect.
Again...soulful. Beautiful.
I'm late to the party on this one, but had to comment to say that I think you really did a great job making this song your own -- bravo!
Enjoyed this one!
Excellent track Happy new year 🥳
Very nice. I admit, it got me in the feelies.
Well done….i’ll have to check out the original, I’ve never heard this one. You shouldn’t curb the covers….it’s ALL better than AI.

Love your vocals on this. So rich

Stunningly good and heartfelt. Swordfishtrombones vibe!

This one is really nice. That crying harp is a perfect accompaniment.
Goosebumps and tears. Brilliant again.
Really enjoy this one. It's ... hypnotizing in a way. Lovely.
Needed google translate for this one, but it's worth it.
Oldrottenhead sounds suspiciously like Roger Champan... :D Nice cover.

Today is a great day to feel some positivity for the future. Your guitar and keys sound as brilliant as your vocals on this one. Great recording too.
This feels like a T-Rex song. And I really like T-Rex. :D

You've been knocking these out of the park. Again beautiful sound, but more so beautifully intense lyrics that somehow hit close to home again.
This isn't just a great tune, but the guitar and vocals sound clean and beautiful too. Nice one.
Every time you post something new I expect some new, cool cat groove... and you never disappoint.
Dark but beautiful. The piano comes in with the exact feeling the song wove. Really feel this one.

Kept hoping to hear that bluesy harp say hello in this one. Great tune.

This is relaxing and intense at the same time. Great track.
