Listening To The Wind

(Em) A legend that the sailors told
Tales shared from long ago
(C) Secrets that are captured in the (Em) air

(Em) It comes to you from far way
Whispered roars that fade away
(C) Answers that are carried on the (Em) breeze
Only (C) heard, listening to the (Em) wind

(Em) It takes a somewhat special ear
It’s true that doubters cannot hear
The (C) stories there a waiting to be (Em) told

(Em) And I can hear them calling now
Honestly, I don’t know how
A (C) sailor’s fate unfolds in front of (Em) me
I can (C) see, listening to the (Em) wind

(Em) I can hear the angels sing
The bravest souls still sailing
Never (C) to return another (Em) day

(Em) Storms and trouble calling me
All those sailors lost at sea
And then, (C) peace comes in the (Em) end
In the (C) air, listening to the (Em) wind

The most beautiful, gorgeous Sea Shanty I've ever hear. So haunting, chilling, gripping... I'm in awe. The instrumentation, the melody -- you're a marvelous talent. Too real! Wow -- just wow!

I hope you don't mind if I slap a track of acoustic lead guitar to this. Four bars into this and I was swiftly adjusting the tuning on my new Yamaha, and then... well, keep an eye and ear on your email.

I think I remember saying once, about one of your other songs, that it was the best one yet. Now I am forced to change my mind. This is really good all the way around - lyrics, melody, arrangement, instrumentation - great job Greg.

Oh it's just fab. You've actually got me singing along on this one. Doesn't happen too often - I'm usually sat hear listening and thinking, but this one had me singing out loud.

OH WOW!! I saw this arrive the other day but didn't have time to listen. Then I saw the reaction it was getting, so I thought, ooo he must have hit the spot with this one... I've been saving it up for the right moment lol (7.45 am on sunny saturday at the start of two weeks off - that'll do!) And WOW! You've definitely hit the spot. Love it.

Reminiscent of Neil Young and certainly as good a song as just about any of his. Never did like his voice though. Yours works well with this tune and instrumentation.
