This was the 12th song started this month and it's the 14th song finished. It's important in that it officially makes me a winner for FAWM this year, but it's unimportant for the RPM Challenge as this puppy goes straight to the dropped song list…

Song basefile B, subset idea 9 of 14
As ever it is a rough concept and the lyrics and vocals are a last minute cobble/fail.
Other than that, woohoo!

I spent too much time watching CNN and FOX this last summer! Way too much time.

First "real" song I finished, way back in the day for RPM09, and that pointed the direction for where things would eventually go.

Moving on to RPM10, which although the sound quality was relatively poor remains one of my favorite albums I've written.
Uploaded
Also from RPM10, I felt like I had to revisit this one just because I love the absurd time signatures.
Uploaded
From RPM11, which never saw a proper release...but here's an 8-bit revisit anyway.

Another from RPM11 - when I went back to re-learn this one so I could transcribe it into the 8 bit format, I thought, "I'm really glad I came up with this riff."
Uploaded
From RPM17 -- there were so many I liked there it was hard to choose, so I went with this one that is the default choice on the Bandcamp page.
Uploaded
From RPM19 - this was the riff while writing that album that took the longest to mangle into a proper song, but eventually became one of my favorites from it.

And finally, a track that I wrote back in 2014 that never got a proper release but should get posted in its heavy guitar glory on a new album later this year.

This was the third song I started working on this month and it's the 15th song finished. What does that tell you?
I liked it a lot when I first came up with the idea. When I put the rhythm guitars down it started to feel like it wasn't meeting…

Everyday Heroes
T. Boudreau
What if i told you there were everyday heroes
That walked along side of us all
Holding it together though hell n high water
Always there to answer the call
I’m pretty sure that’s your brother

This is a song about someone John met when he moved to Arizona in 1975. A brief encounter that left inspiration for a song.
Uploaded
John wrote this somewhere around 1972 or 1973. This is pretty much a song about the conflict of self vs. what you think is expected of you and the casualties that are impacted along the way. There was probably a lot of James Taylor influence…

I've had these lyrics around a while - an older version of this song, just called "Casual Sin", is also available on the "Experimental Dandelion Farm" compilation.

Previously released under the Quetzalcoatlus name. Loosely inspired by current events, as well as The Fall and The B-52s.

This is the 20th and final song for the 2021 RPM Challenge. Nothing left to do now but to sort the songs into the album that gets submitted and the leftovers album that doesn't. This one's on the bubble. I expect it to go into the leftovers…

As the quiet burns on the midnight oil
And my footsteps making cracks in the floor
For the monsters lurking under my bead
For the tinnitus ringing in my head
It’s the pill in hands that I hold
To Kill the tremors and bury the cold

You’ve got a lot to say and sleeves to sew
We don’t see eye to eye don’t you know
It’s not a coin but two lone planets circling our own suns
Where is the salve to soothe our aching hearts
Suffice to say we’re better apart
The tattered flag…

Lost half of my castle, we dug the moat, we built the walls
But the waves don’t care, they’re busy shushing us senseless
It’s a wonder, forever building here in the sand
How the universe don’t care
The pen to the page, part and parcel…

why would anyone upload this to internet for anyone else to hear? i are dumb.

I aimed to produce a 30 minute EP for RPM 2021 and made this 3 minute beat instead. The plan was to get as many songs early in the month without being slowed down by detail, instead I spent a month tweaking inaudible drum parameters.

My second attempt with chill Lo-Fi music. You may hear sounds of water, fire, birds. Several synths. Sit back, relax and enjoy the beat :)
