about Winter Nacht
each year for the past 4 RPM cycles,, i have known a friend or loved one who has passed away... throughout history winter has been a time when sickness and death creep a little stronger amongst us..... perhaps because of these…
Mesmerising.
(The night Bethan was sitting in Lichfield Cathedral listening to those awesome voices, I was having her grandchild 250 miles away! Just a little trivia for you there...)
Four years ago, I sat alone in Lichfield Cathedral, the night before my son's wedding and listened to the choir. It was spellbinding.
You have taken me back there. Thanks!

Mama Please
She falls flat on her face
she’s totally spaced
she has no disgrace
her life is a waste
she has no respect
she’s so full of hate
she drinks from morning till it’s very late
she’s living in hell
she’s trapped…

Bravo Friend! a beautiful story, a wonderful song... i still remember the day 24 years ago, when i brought my wife and son, home from the hospital,(i had been there of course) but as much as i didn't expect it,, i remember crying in happiness,,,as we stopped in the driveway and i held him, it can be a bit overwhelming,, good luck on sleep,,, nice work here richard
LOST IN THE GRAY
Never ran into the water on a summer day
Never had the time to find a better word to say
Never tried anyway
Never thought I'd ever try to find another way
Never even thought I'd ever really want to stay
Never knew how…
Straight cover, from a backing track, just because I had the urge and I don't think the neighbours would appreciate me thrashing the guitar so late!
The backing track pretty much sums up where my head was at when I recorded it :)
you take my breath away here,, so many thoughts feeling hopes fears,, heart beats pass away while i listen to this,,,but perhaps the trueist for me are, the pictures behind my eyes, in my mind,, of all the years i have been blessed to be with my children,, and no matter how i try (and i often don't) there's a part of me that always sees them forever young,,(which is not what they want to hear of course) , love your play richard
Gary and I did something good.
ONE AND ONLY
How many times have you been captured by a camera
With no one really knowing who you are
Caught in the sight lines in the background
In the corner of their eyes
Never looking closely at the…
oh ya,,,,,about 3 seconds into this your playing alone, had won my heart, this is,,, something i must listen to... right away again,(and i don't usually do this), the music/play/arrangement is brilliant.. and the lyrics are poetry that goes right to heart,, (on the level of a P Simon or J Mitchell, in my view),, most wonderful! congrats two both r

Wake up in the morning, I’m still in my cloths
I got one eye open but the other wont go
Barely can remember the night before
Except for how you threw me out the door

This is one of the things I was fiddling with when I sang Me and Bobby McGee as a distraction last week.
I'm working on finding out how to get acoustic stuff down consistently and effectively within the confines of what I've got here - I wasn…
i agree with williew,, the less you use,,(man and guitar) the harder it is to pull off,,, and indeed you do it here! i love the quiet understated , personal, right with you feel of this... and that's not even speaking of the lyrics,,, simply put "to die for",, beautiful, you have made my sunday eve,, quite magical,,, r
A little banjo-centric parody of the old Irving Berlin song, written after more than a week in -20 C. temps in northwest Russia. Brrr. And Merry Christmas.

I was flapping around working on something else with just vocal and guitar the other day. It wasn't going well, so I just started slapping the guitar and singing one of my favourite songs.
What I didn't realise was that I was recording it…
