A second version with the initial lead guitar standing alone...a little cluttered after a few listens and some constructive feedback!
Norm's Groove for St Monica inspired this one. Thanks Norm!

Since Norm found himself in an acoustically great room, full of unfinished cabinets I couldn't help but add some acoustic guitar, crank it up and hope you like it Norm!

The most excellent thing about this, besides your trade-mark sweet stringing, is how you phrased this so very differently than I had ever heard it. That's one of the charms of rhythm - how you hear it depends upon where you are starting from. I think I much prefer your ear to mine with this one. Many thanks.

Deadlines, freeways, appointments, things to do lists, expectations, getting older, not enough hours in the day to get everything done? ..... make each day and moment count! Thanks to Dave Matthews for a lick I threw in there. Enjoy!

Finally, the finishing touches seem to be put on this three-year-old song thanks to some very talented people.

I have issues at my house, sometimes they manifest themselves in my tracks. In this case, the bassoon and oboe represent the mouse. The guitar is the peanut-butter.
I had not touched my keyboard for a long time - couple months? So it was inspiring to play it again. I set it up in the living room of the new house and played pianoteq on my laptop using a Just Intonation tuning (below). Actually I had to improvise…
I wrote this one a few year's back when my daughter was 6 years old. I finally recorded it and uploaded it to her MP3 player for her 12th birthday this year.
I did some research on Norm's Bembe beat which has Nigerian roots, then found Yankari National Park in Nigeria which does have rich wildlife resources. The park is an important refuge for over 50 species of mammal including African Bush Elephant, Olive Baboon, Patas Monkey, Tantalus Monkey, Roan Antelope, Western Hartebeest, Lion, African Buffalo, Waterbuck, Bushbuck and Hippopotamus. :)
Caveat emptor: I did absolutely none of the drumming in this piece.
WORLD PREMIER! FIRST RECORDING OF THIS PATTERN - EVER!
My friend Kokou "Alex" Yemey called me a few days ago with some urgency in his voice: "I must record this before…
After listening to Brian's beautiful guitar piece "Mellow," Brian was kind enough to allow me to sing along...
Never saw you coming
Down my lonely road
I never saw you coming
Can't be sure you'll never go
I know you'll be leaving
But I keep believing…
Another song from the archive... Written about a friend who somehow seemed to come out of her general sad manner... Thoughts go back to a lunar eclipse when the girl I was standing next to to watch it (way back in college) disappeared from sight…
It seems a lot of you record with open mics and can relate. I record 1 track at a time with usually 4 or 5 tracks. So, Im only asking for about 15 minutes of Silence...IS THIS TOO MUCH TO ASK??? Anyway, my house is so loud, I get a lot of bloopers…
I picked up on one of Norm's wonderful grooves.
I added some bass, guitar, horns, and a basic drum track. Kicker and snare with a few cymbols. I didn't want to walk on Norm's fine, fine, percussion.
Thanks Norm for allowing me the opportunity…
This is a 3/16 Bembe on tuned congas, played with mallets. I've arranged it (at the very kind suggestion of Vaisvil & ReefWalker) in a verse/chorus/bridge/capo fashion to get away from a straight pattern - I think this sort of arrangement…
This is a piece Norm and I collaborated on last year. We hope you will enjoy it.
two improvised 12 string guitar lines
bass line ( I took a few takes)
improvised piano
Norm's percussion in Tumbao rhythm
I had some lyrics describing a late nite cake baking experience kicking around. If I have a lot on my mind, dirtying every dish in the house seems like the right thing to do.
I stole some cool percussion from Norm and went to work. I also…
After writing this song about our newly adopted dog, I asked Kavin if he like to play some slide guitar, knowing that he would come up with something terrific... I just had no idea how terrific.

Deep songwriting. I like it. It sets a real mood.

This guitar's a real roller :] Travellin' without movin', you don't need anything else than that :]
Wicked! This is a new horizon for me, like it :]
Beautiful job Rick! That new axe is sounding great!
Really liking what you have done here, it's great.
This is brilliant - I love the blend between your awesome guitar and Normy's fine cabinetry masterpiece!

Thats the beauty of collaboration 1+1>2 Thanks Norm
like those cool ethnic drum lines you had playing with the acoustic guitar, the ending mini-jam was impressive!
excellent synthesis of acoustic instruments complimenting each other perfectly!

Very nicely done... The perfect addition to Norm's outstanding use of cabinetry. Great job, Rick!
very nice percussion and guitar blend
3 nice change ups here and good guitar flow and tone though the whole piece Rick.
