We wrote and recorded 10 songs under the name Cattica. It was just the best month of lockdown imaginable.

Another one from the archives! Collab with glu from 2009 - I took his original guitar track and added vocals, then he remixed and made about four more versions, but this is my fave.

This is such a sensual feast! a classic.
I must have had one of the other four versions, but i'm so glad it's here because hard drives don't last forever!
With lovely Keith Landry. Unfortunately, the studio I had at the time was on its last legs and the recording is a terrible quality, but I've never been able to get the vocal to sound better. Probably because I'm now over the awful thing* I did…

With JS Tolar, as band Visions Of Nell.
My tribute to Anne Boleyn, the first queen to be publicly executed in England. I used some of the poetry she wrote during her imprisonment in the chorus. An innocent, incomparable woman.

Two hours before morning light
Highway signs go by all night
Open window to catch the breeze
Helps me clear my cluttered mind
Road noise rumbling through the floor
Been on this road once or twice before
My mind is racing up ahead
Leaving…
Geas put this beauty of a classic up with the offer of exercising your vocals and i couldn't resist. thanks Geas for the chance to give it a go........
i've used the same chord progression as i have eyes but speeded it up quite a bit....Hope you enjoy!!
LET IT LOOSE
you don’t know me and i don’t know you
so lets get together and stop feeling blue
lets shake it out and lets get this thing…
i got caught speeding in my car by one of those eyes in the sky and it got me thinking...... about the world we are living in and what its becoming.....or is that become?
I got eyes.....
They tell us that were safe in our homes
then they…
With huge thanks to the awesomeinfinity Jake, Wrinkled Shirt, who let me use his gorgeous instrumental track "Gaza".
The sun left the city, from the ground
Moonlight woke up, falling down
Why are you scared, free as a bird
Now that the heat…
This one went through many iterations before turning into what you hear. A key breakthrough came when I stumbled upon that keyboard part for the verses. That opened the whole thing up.
There is no reverb on any vox parts in this one. I loved how I was able to get the tone of the voices to have that mid-60s sound. This was aided by the fact I am running through an emulation of the Abbey Road mixing desk. ;)
No offense meant to my English friends. ;) I grew up there as a kid, so we have common cause. Anyway, this song is more about the struggle between the material and spiritual, doing the right thing when you are called upon, etc. Hope you enjoy!
As you may have picked up on, there's a lot this year about soldiering on when your world has been destroyed. So, this is a song of hope. Have faith, have faith...
This one was a hard one to nail. The Wurlitzer riff was something I accidentally played and fell in love with immediately, so I needed to write a song that enhanced the mood that the tone of the Wurly evoked. The sound is so empty and spacious…

Great tones! Sounds like an interpretative dance score.
