We did four versions of this song - all with different guitars (or combinations thereof). This is version 2, my own favorite version.

I like this.
Whether it's intentional or not, I have to admit I imagined lots of glittery costumes, long hair, beards, and possibly make-up... (and Whispering Bob Harris introducing them on the good ole Old Grey Whistle Test) lol

This is an old song that I finally remixed. All intruments are synthesizers, so there were only three of us this time.
The song is based on a free-form poem by Grant D. McLeman from Scotland that he had sent to me to put it to music.

This song was written on guitar by Kari Eskola from Finland. He sent me his guitar track along with this fantastic vocal recording by Emmi Inkeri asking me to replace the guitar with a piano accompaniment.
I tried my best, knowing that I'm not…

Several years ago I had a short lived duo with an oboe and English horn player named Nat. This is a demo from that period. It's an old old chord progression of mine that never really had a melody and Nat improvised this melody in the studio to…
Solo acoustic finger picking thing I've been working on for a while. Sometime around 1968 I started studying with Mr. George Bennett who taught me the rudiments of finger picking. Later when we played some gigs together he also taught me the rudiments…
Something I missed for many years was singing in a choir. Now that I have multitracking I don't miss it any more.
THE WINNOWING WIND
I feel the wind flow thru me
Oh, please, don't let it undo me.
Let it level and true me
The wind, the…
Well as you've come to know Reg wears his heart on his sleeve, the new woman who was going to be the one has gone. He's decided to go for a walk in the park to clear his head , he's sad oh! he is sad, sad, sad, .............
This one, i heard…
I've made three different versions of this song, but I think I like this one the most.
Lyrics:
She was stunningly pretty but confined to her throne
Her beauty was praised but her feelings unknown
To the peasants and paupers, the burghers…
I DREAMED I HUGGED JACK HARDY
I dreamed I met Jack Hardy.
He was bold but had sensitive hands
With a voice that was tempered by New York City
In his eyes I saw many lands
I dreamed I hugged Jack Hardy
He was thick and soft, like pine…
Reg has been philosophising about life tonight and this is his conclusion............
LIFE IS LIKE A WAVE
The body is the sea and life is the wave
Life is just like a wave
Life is just like a wave
Life is like a wave gaining power
Life is like…
I've listened to a couple of weird songs tonight. You were the only one I had expected that from though. ;)
Minimalistic, experimental instrumentation and highly creative vocal processing, as usual. This may not be my favorite musical genre, but I cannot switch away from your songs once they start playing. They have something mesmerizing about them ... job accomplished! :)
This was my very first attempt at recording , done on two tracks , me picking and vox , AK rhythm , then me adding a harmony vocal , a bit basic but a Traffic song i've allways loved

Honestly, James - I like this version MUCH more than the country-pop version with the female singer. She is a good singer, but that other version did not really touch me like this one does.
Your voice (although too loud again ;) :P ) plays an important role in the originality and tenderness of your songs. To me it is the most important part.

Steffen

You know how to write songs, James. And you don't just simply sing your songs - you feel and live them. That's the stuff good songwriters are made of.

Cool song...
Ooo yeah, like this one. A lovely "tight but loose" feel.
Not convinced he sounds like David Essex - ok, a bit maybe - but he's got a fabulous voice. And his guitar playing's rather tasteful too. Nice one.
very cool, tight song. reminds me of nice cross between Adrian Belew and INXS.
Very nice..."another place and another time..."
Nice song
A good piece of work I can easily hear this asd a song behind a film or TV offering.
very nice piece
Love that change on "not to see"... So pretty. So sad.
I like it. It just bounces along effortlessly.
This is a beautiful song, and the piano and voice are wonderful.
Very pretty composition indeed Steffen with lovely vocal and lyrics from Paul. Bethan
Super vocal and I enjoyed the piano work as well. Lovely track! Bethan

You are a proof for my conviction that a good lyric is a requirement for a good song. All your lyrics are great IMO, and so are your songs.
What a pity that you did not continue to play together. Very nice new age music.
Great picking! I would love to be able to play like this. Regards Steffen
Very pretty. I agree with what Bethan said. Regards, Steffen
Wow, great choir, James! This song sounds like a soundtrack of a historical film. Monumental! Regards, Steffen
Minimalistic, experimenting - and as intriguing as all your songs. Regards, Steffen
All your songs are complete stories. Tell us more, I'll be listening! Regards, Steffen
Great one, James! Who is that guy Jack Hardy anyway? You know ... I only understand half of the words. :) Regards, Steffen

I thought this was "Teenage Hurricane" again. ;) Your singing reminds me a bit of Jackson Browne. Very nice listen.
Wonderful music and performance! I hope you'll post some more. Regards, Steffen
VERY nice, kind of a minstrel song - reminds me of Simon & Garfunkel (again). Regards, Steffen
Whatever mics you use, Rob, it will always sound nice. It's your voice that does it.

Great music. I'm sure Andreas Vollenweider would love this. :)
I always get a nice 70s feel from your songs, Sandy. Brings back good memories. :) Regards, Steffen
Nice song, but I'm sure it would have been even better if you had sung it yourself.
You know how to write songs, James. And you don't just simply sing your songs - you feel and live them. That's the stuff good songwriters are made of. Regards, Steffen
I love those vocals. Elvis is alive! ;)
Another good one that reminds me strongly of the Beatles. Regards, Steffen
