The music is a Stephen Stills-style early '70s-flavor of that effective country/folk rock formulae of simple and sweet, allowing the lyrics and vocals to shine. And in this case your vocals do the lyrics serious justice, and those lyrics are moving, touching. They sucked me in, inviting me to visualize the setting and experience the emotions. This is a for-real good bit of songwriting. This was how it was done in our day, but the art seems lost on the under 30 generation.

Bittersweet, with sad lyrics sung over beautiful piano. On the one hand I’m thinking, “That poor guy needs some company,” while on the other, selfish hand I’m thinking, “But out of his misery came this gorgeous music we might not otherwise have been blessed to experience.” And on my third, evil hand, I’m thinking, “What kind of awesome tune would he belt out if we increased his misery by roughing him up every now and then?”

RPM 2011 number 2. Inspired by an ex-friend of mine who had the most dazzling rose tinted glasses. Always used to envy the simplicity of his view and how nothing could ever get to him (everything gets to me).. since i knew him I know a lot of…
This song was inspired from all the snowstorms we have been having this winter, another on the way tonight.....I decided to prog it out for this one....prog-rock.....lets bring it back.
Stay in Dave by the fire, its too cold out there. Lets hope the snow doesn't get guitar height because that would be real savage, keep stamping it down and stay home and keep the music flowing...
Smoke of the past
The shadow of experiences
What was not
But could have been

An unusual traditional tune from the first Scartaglen album way back in 1984. Going through stuff the other day and ran across the LP and couldn't even remember the tune or having recorded it. I played guitar on this track
On Growing Old
by John Masefield - an excerpt read by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1940, the year of Scott's death.

My dog and I are old, too old for roving.

Great bit of guitar play there Dave if this is the result of the snow. For the sake of the inmates sanity within the alone-tone asylum let it snow let it snow.........
This is an improvisation on a theme I play all the time when I sit at the keys. Sort of a warm up I've been playing for a very long time. It is very simple and I may have used it here already. My apologies.
Written in Isaba, Spain 2003. On location shooting THE STONE RAFT/HET STENEN VLAT/La Balsa de Piedra. If you leave me a note, please tell me who you are.
i agree with KraftiM it is like walking from pub to pub, it's great. Style shifting could be your super power. but Remember the talcom powder when putting on the action hero's rubber suit otherwise it could get tricky......
