The juxtopation of these two songs is perfect, the ugliness of the first intro of harsher nature into a neatly wrapped tune of beautiful melody.
Coming into My Butterfly that feels like something Smith should have done in the first place. The completion of the thought from old to new is a wonderful idea.
Great job Wilsun! --- *SORRY! *DR* Wilsun!

No apologies—that was awesome. Nailed the middle 8. Got the St. Denis lyric (I always wondered whether it was intelligible or not). The slower tempo evokes the heartache better than the original, and sweet baby Jesus was that falsetto great. The one take approach makes it immediate, like a text message, which is kinda what the song was built off. I’m touched. Thanks for a much-needed cheer-up.

I decided to cover one of Jarrett's songs. Word to the wise - it's harder than you think. Dude uses a lot of inversions and weird chords. So, being me, I kinda-sorta figured out the chords, but not quite, then took to creating my own song that…
This... sounds... awesome! It's like modern retro. The synths, the thin sounding guitars, the dry snare, the flanging, it all sounds great. Fab vocals too.
Glitter and unicorns destroyed my recording device. I used an Ipad from a friend and used garageband to record the whole album with a cheap $5 microphone.
I could have done it on my Iphone as well but my eyes aren't what they used to be... the…
Listened to the whole album; strong melodies, great vocal range. You did all this in two days? Could've fooled me. I get the setup isn't what you would've liked, but I think the whole thing sounds brilliant. Lo-Fi/DIY/what-have-you, I love the simplicity, rawness, spontaneity of it all... and of course, the meta-ness too. Great album title, BTW.
I like Bad Religion. The first album I heard, I remember thinking that it was amazing that there was a smart punk band. Also, I like the way that their songs could work with an acoustic guitar, and still stand.
I thought this had a similar…
Don't let it be said that I've forgotten my love of R.E.M.
Dream of a life that’s never been seen
A world of possibilities, a place in between
A place of shadows, a place of light
A place of secrets, hiding in the night
Oblique, oblique…
Toe tapping catchiness, classic REM sound. I love the repeated guitar riffing throughout the song, and you kept that little pause at 3:24! I think it add a little bit of dynamic and tension at the end of the song.
Yacht rock.
Every time I see your smile
I feel like I’ve come home
And every time you stay a while
Is the best day that I’ve known
You’re the one that lights my way
Brings brightness to my day
And I just have to say
Don’t want it…
This one also has a lilting, melancholy feel to it. Groovy bass! Awesome outro; I love how all the instruments fade out except the cello and flute sounds.
I tried to write a song that sounded sort of like Peter Gabriel. I'm not sure how close I got, but Megan and Jarrett absolutely killed it on this tune.
I can see you in my mind
Like a dream I can’t forget
I’m reaching out to touch you
But…

So here's to all of us that have been in this situation a time or two! Hugs and love to us all!!!
Feel Just Like A Loner
Verse 1
We sit across the table
We share the same old food…
I completely agree
That it’s harder to fall than leave
You said before you let me kiss you
It’s a wonder that we
Can still fondly remiss, that kiss
The miracle of the red dress
20 years from today
When i’m lying in my grave
My face…
When i was 15 i’d, had enough
Got all my things and, packed them up
Flipped off the whole world, i was so tough
Little did i know things would get so rough
Got so excited to be, on my own
Finally a place that i, could call home
Little…
Despite being interspersed with some light hearted and hilarious moments, this is quite a heavy album. Poignant, reflective, even sad. The acoustic instrumentation matches those particular tracks very well. These songs are easily relatable, which also makes them great. Wonderful album.
I can still taste the pain of how you made me feel
Your only concern was to break my will
Whatever doesn't kill makes you stronger than
My imagination's running how to get vengeance
But at the end of the day, I don't care anyways
You're…
(COVID Salute)
You can pick 'em, you can lick 'em, you can roll them in a ball
You can stack 'em up like waffles 'till they're forty feet tall
You can wipe on your sleeve, you can flick 'em at your friends
You could blow them in a tissue…
If tomorrow you find yourself far away from me
Running to another city
If you don't have the time to hide away with me
Disappear into the scenery
Am I no longer worth
The effort to search
For the life we were dreaming
For the love we…
I know sometimes things just ain't right
Like oil and water we survive
Y'know I don't hate you
Maybe we're too much alike
Push and pull
We'll survive
We're not getting younger these days
And we're both sure and set in our ways
We fight…
Comments on wilsun's stuff
One from back in the day ….. you’ve done a good job with it
You've started using a different approach with your vocals and I really like it.
This is spectacular. The raw emotion really comes through.
this is fun, put a smile on my face!
I'm not familiar with the Manics, but, this jams, nice job Wilsun!
Oh man. I love this voice out of you. MORE OF THIS!!!!!
oooohhh. Love the dark, mysterious vibe. I'm a huge OMD fan. You did this justice.
Great tune! Love the jangly guitar vibes and cool Eno-esque backing synths. Reminds me of James "Laid" style stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Nice work here. You should write "dumb three minute pop songs" more often.
I am also a fan of basically taking another song and turning it into your own song. Good idea and good job!
I don't know the original, but this was well done and well produced, the sounds and the mix are all great!

There is a bold move in purposely have dissonance be the intro of a song. You are nailing the Robert Smith.
Wow. this is really quite good, Wilsun. You don't give yourself enough credit.

Nailed the New Order vibe
Problematically addicting. VERRRRRRY nice.
@Eternal, I don't often check Alonetone so sorry about missing your message, but feel free to add to it! I don't think it was played in time though...
one mo' time......
Man, I wanna add to it. Good job.

Damn catchy and continues with the melancholic vibe, almost danceable too. Great track!
Gentle and melodic melancholy... great opener!

This rocks! Love the added vocals!

Great vocals, catchy guitar solo outro. A really fun listen... it's a blast (in every sense of the word)!

So melancholy! I love that repeating high guitar(?) motif throughout the song. Such a great outro!

Wonderful lyrics, sad but definitely relatable.
Jangly and catch as heck. Awesome middle section.
Love this, melodic and melancholy. Great solo. Quite Cure-like too, reminds me of "Numb."
Sounds great already, demo or not. Amazing vocals!

Brilliant.
Oh my, who hurt you? Seriously, great song, great lyrics, the ultimate kiss off.
Haha, brilliant!
Oh my, the feels.
Great song, it sounds melancholic but hopeful at the same time.
