The juxtopation of these two songs is perfect, the ugliness of the first intro of harsher nature into a neatly wrapped tune of beautiful melody.
Coming into My Butterfly that feels like something Smith should have done in the first place. The completion of the thought from old to new is a wonderful idea.
Great job Wilsun! --- *SORRY! *DR* Wilsun!

No apologies—that was awesome. Nailed the middle 8. Got the St. Denis lyric (I always wondered whether it was intelligible or not). The slower tempo evokes the heartache better than the original, and sweet baby Jesus was that falsetto great. The one take approach makes it immediate, like a text message, which is kinda what the song was built off. I’m touched. Thanks for a much-needed cheer-up.

I developed a strong obsession with the building blocks of pop songs and tried to craft one. Unfortunately, I wrote it in a key that was high enough that the combination of the rapid-fire words and the pitch nearly made me pass out while singing…

A tale of two songs and a unicorn. The funky instrumental meets the jazzy bits and then Megan joins in on the singy bits.
I've spent years searching for the proper female singer for my songs. I've referred to it as my quest for a unicorn…
For the first time in 13 years Grant sent me some lyrics. I added a verse and then spent the month of February waiting for the song to give me a direction. It did on about the 24th. Originally this was sunny and upbeat.
Keep it quiet kids…
Grant and I became obsessed with maj7 chords and that led to a lot of jazzy sounds. The title came before there were words and it seems about right.
Megan really made this one shine.

OK, this is a bit of a departure for me - posting songwriting demos.
This is a one mic recording made this morning in the living room, touch of reverbs…
Sounds great! Impassioned vocals and sweet sounding acoustic guitar. There's just something about simple and sparse arrangements. I can see where you're coming from in regards to RPM, there is a significant difference between writing and production. I think I enjoy the production side of things more, and once I finish with an RPM, I rarely go back and touch it. I'm an inept writer, so the thought of writing 14 songs in a month would give me anxiety!
In the final few minutes
That I'll be around
Will you waltz with me in it
Would you turn me down
Would you turn me down
As the time's running out
And I make my advance
Would there be any doubt
If I take the chance
Can I have one…
Quite a challenging album, an emotional rollercoaster; everything from an air of pessimism, to poignancy, to heartfelt. As usual, you have a great way of painting pictures and telling stories through your lyrics. I know you mentioned that you would be proud if this was to be you last album (I'm paraphrasing), and I would agree because it's a great album. However, at times the album is quite dark, which is a bit of a departure from the optimism I'm used to hearing. Hope you continue with your music.
The vastness of the ocean
A darkness in the sky
A lifetime of emotion
How hard you've had to try
To navigate the currents
And the demons in the deep
You have to stay awake
'Cuz they might take you in your sleep
You wish that you could…
Comments on wilsun's stuff
One from back in the day ….. you’ve done a good job with it
You've started using a different approach with your vocals and I really like it.
This is spectacular. The raw emotion really comes through.
this is fun, put a smile on my face!
I'm not familiar with the Manics, but, this jams, nice job Wilsun!
Oh man. I love this voice out of you. MORE OF THIS!!!!!
oooohhh. Love the dark, mysterious vibe. I'm a huge OMD fan. You did this justice.
Great tune! Love the jangly guitar vibes and cool Eno-esque backing synths. Reminds me of James "Laid" style stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Nice work here. You should write "dumb three minute pop songs" more often.
I am also a fan of basically taking another song and turning it into your own song. Good idea and good job!
I don't know the original, but this was well done and well produced, the sounds and the mix are all great!

There is a bold move in purposely have dissonance be the intro of a song. You are nailing the Robert Smith.
Wow. this is really quite good, Wilsun. You don't give yourself enough credit.

Nailed the New Order vibe
Problematically addicting. VERRRRRRY nice.
@Eternal, I don't often check Alonetone so sorry about missing your message, but feel free to add to it! I don't think it was played in time though...
one mo' time......
Man, I wanna add to it. Good job.

Great vocals! Catchy hooks.
Great surf vibe, fun little song.
Love the groovy vibe. Also my fave on the album so far.
I feel seen... LOL. Really like the keyboard textures.
Clever and witty, lovely backing vocals, and all those maj7 chords! And I appreciate the DD reference.
This rocks.
Uber catchy, awesome guitar. Sounds like a song straight out of an old AM car radio.
Epic closer, utterly breathtaking in its melancholic, ethereal beauty.
The most accessible song in the set, but no less impressive. Gorgeous soundscapes, irresistible hooks and melodies.
Oh my, this is such an arresting piece; moody and dynamic.
The feels... love the chill, atmospheric vibe.
Haunting, atmospheric, and gorgeous.
Epic, cohesive, and gripping. Just brilliant!
Agreed with the other comment, very Elbow-esque, the melody and even the vocal has a Guy Garvey style to it. Excellent!
Toe tapper, this one. Nice chord changes.
Touching.
Great vocals! Raw and honest. I love nuances that cannot be replicated, it lends to a one-of-a-kind recording.

Great track! Love the full instrumentation. You should open up your singing like this more often.
