The juxtopation of these two songs is perfect, the ugliness of the first intro of harsher nature into a neatly wrapped tune of beautiful melody.
Coming into My Butterfly that feels like something Smith should have done in the first place. The completion of the thought from old to new is a wonderful idea.
Great job Wilsun! --- *SORRY! *DR* Wilsun!

Recorded and mixed (very quickly and sloppily) on the evening of 4/28/2023 for the “30 Day Songs” project. Everything was recorded on one take. The guitar is out of time at some places, vocals are pitchy and terrible. I wanted so much for this…

No apologies—that was awesome. Nailed the middle 8. Got the St. Denis lyric (I always wondered whether it was intelligible or not). The slower tempo evokes the heartache better than the original, and sweet baby Jesus was that falsetto great. The one take approach makes it immediate, like a text message, which is kinda what the song was built off. I’m touched. Thanks for a much-needed cheer-up.

I love surf music complete with Fender guitars dripping in lots of spring reverb. This one came out of the clear blue and somehow developed the double-naught spy thing in the process.
Matt plays lead. He's got the surf thing down pat!
Achingly beautiful... love the laid back acoustic feel, gentle acoustic riffing and gentle violin. My favorite track on the album. Very well deserved to be the showcase track in the middle of the album.
Comments on wilsun's stuff
One from back in the day ….. you’ve done a good job with it
You've started using a different approach with your vocals and I really like it.
This is spectacular. The raw emotion really comes through.
this is fun, put a smile on my face!
I'm not familiar with the Manics, but, this jams, nice job Wilsun!
Oh man. I love this voice out of you. MORE OF THIS!!!!!
oooohhh. Love the dark, mysterious vibe. I'm a huge OMD fan. You did this justice.
Great tune! Love the jangly guitar vibes and cool Eno-esque backing synths. Reminds me of James "Laid" style stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Nice work here. You should write "dumb three minute pop songs" more often.
I am also a fan of basically taking another song and turning it into your own song. Good idea and good job!
I don't know the original, but this was well done and well produced, the sounds and the mix are all great!

There is a bold move in purposely have dissonance be the intro of a song. You are nailing the Robert Smith.
Wow. this is really quite good, Wilsun. You don't give yourself enough credit.

Nailed the New Order vibe
Problematically addicting. VERRRRRRY nice.
@Eternal, I don't often check Alonetone so sorry about missing your message, but feel free to add to it! I don't think it was played in time though...
one mo' time......
Man, I wanna add to it. Good job.

Awesome outro.
Great surf-rock double single! This one is groovy as heck.
Great surf-rock double single! This one reminds me of "Cecilia Ann."
Very groovy.
Definitely a toe-tapper!
Emotional and beautiful. Great atmosphere and arrangements. An epic and magnificent accomplishment.
Great guitar playing and groovy vibe!

An unsettling, disjointed track... the disoriented feeling matches the subject matter.
A little social commentary about current times? Nice, laid back groovy track that turns into a dancy, synthy outro.
Happy trees, happy clouds... titanium white! Haha... love it! Right up there with "Tony Danza."
Comic books, superheroes, RPG card games, compulsive collecting... a celebration of geekdom! Something a lot of us can relate to.
Really catchy simple first half with handclaps and banjo and then when the rest of the instruments come in... BAM! Really cool.
Matt spittin' rhymes over a catchy beat and lush synths. Love the tongue-in-cheek humor.
Quirky, short acoustic-tinged track. Nice break inbetween tracks on the album.
Bouncy bassline, reggae keys... I hear some Elvis Costello influence in this one. Very catchy.
Epic and utterly beautiful. Awesome opening track.
Humorous, tongue-in-cheek, moody track... very clever.
Amazing, moody track. Love the mix of worldly percussion, electronic keyboards, and piano playing.
Lovely soundscapes. Great mix of gentle acoustic guitar, keyboard, and wind instruments.
