It's a great song, Alex. And gets better with repeated listenings. It's in there with some other songs i am particularly listening to on my iPod and (rather than the usual - "damn i'm supposed to be doing something for this") I am blown away by how straightforwardly great it is. You might think there's a 'cheese' factor but it's well written, direct and clear. Bravo.
The B side to Dad's father's day present. This is an instrumental celebration of his 45 years in the printing industry, and an acknowledgement that while other kids got bedtime stories, I got the history of lithography..
Fathers often find ways of giving a part of themselves to their sons, and they do so in ways that can be baffling to the sons. Perhaps your father was doing that.
My dad was an engineer and a private pilot. He never told me a bedtime story, but he took my brother and me flying as often as he could. It was his way of showing his love.
Nice song, too.

Fantastically touching tribute - personal, tender, professional...
Less interestingly, this is probably my favourite of your songs (okay, apart from Calligraphy!!).

My take on Gumbo's Keep Your Eye On The Spot, one of many excellent tracks from his RPM2011 album 'Cat's Moustache'. It's something of a departure from the original, though I was trying to retain an element of the gospel so hopefully its soul…
RPM 2011 number 2. Inspired by an ex-friend of mine who had the most dazzling rose tinted glasses. Always used to envy the simplicity of his view and how nothing could ever get to him (everything gets to me).. since i knew him I know a lot of…
This song is sort of about making a clean break, killing off the lead character in your story and burying him along with all his sins before the inevitable happens, and the bad guy gets his. Initially came from a jam with my mate Ben Price who…
This is a song about finding momentary escape from the pain of loss.. and having it interrupted by the realisation that it's the anniversary of the day it all started;
Some days I get up
and I go to the park
and I sit in the dark
and I think…

Musta been December cause the air mighty cold
A family was moving in, further down the road
They were not the colour of the others in the street
All the kids were laughing at the trainers on their feet
I was only young and so I guess I laughed…
glad you like it buddy.. was one of my favourites off the album as a song but a couple o things went astray during recording and pissed on it a bit. If I wasnt lazy I'd re-record it but yeah.. BANJO!!!
great playing, great track and love the way you recorded. Fancy doing something similar for next year maybe. its got the nice cozy feeling of the old crusty blues and folk cuts. awesome
Another one without lyrics. The title was my workingtitle. And I just thought it was a funny title (I think Rage Against the Machine is kind of silly) I quite like some of the sounds on this one (it's a Poly 800 through an Electro Harmonix Big…
Here the idea was that I was going to write from the viewpoint of someone who is paralyzed from the neck down and can through technology only watch other peoples life but not participate. It turned out a bit more general and ambiguous than that.

1.Afsluitdijk
...is a Dutch word and it's the name of the dam/road going from the province Friesland to North-Holland (and Amsterdam) The lyrics are about a 15-year old boy who feels so trapped in the boring Frisian town he's living in that he…
what a great track to kick off with. Love everything about it.. not sure I've heard your stuff before. So catchy, makes you want to listen to more. Which is what I'm gonna do now. :)
A chance gtr line turns into a big production. This is a song I wrote for myself, meaning it's probably too long, it probably has too many parts and it probably has too much going on in it. YET, I don't care. I wrote it for me. Oh, and I am very…
A song I've had stored in my head for quite awhile, though never committed to tape (erm... binary code) - probably because I thought it was a bit simple and even trite. Having to come up with an album's worth of material in a month cured me of…
Lyrics:
Pass me a handle of that old time tennessee
It's been a while since I've seen the devil
It's a common mistake to think that I'm a sweet and gentle soul
but give me a chance to change your mind
Cause you have never seen me like…
red cowboy and hot burrito were recordings done for a friend of mine who wanted to check out his new (old) drum machine. Both drum parts are constructed from prerecorded beats (from presets or previous owner, I don't know) and have 4-5 bass tracks…
this couldnt be more kick ass if it actually jumped out from the laptop and booted me. Its like the theme to the most deranged cop show ever. And it kinda makes me feel like doing something bad. I'm off to the park to kick pigeons.
