I just heard the Ramen #3 version of this and it totally blew me away!
Furthermore, I sickenly realized that I have posted a piece by the same name, a long time after you posted this one. I apologize for this and have changed the name of my posting (but a similar story to yours... first recording in a new house!!)
Strong work team. I'm a big fan!
Thanks for your kind words, Kavin: and this album is STILL in the works; it's just been one hell of a year, and now it has to wait for RPM to finish... sheesh... k&w
this is really cool! As a beginning music-maker I am really impressed by how you kept that bass line groove fresh and interesting for the full 12 minutes. It was really great all the way through! The clapping, snapping, stomping rhythm breakdown at around 3 or 4 minutes was really cool, too :)
For you to speakSo it seems we lost our voice
Stripped down bare on copper line
Raw to subtle ears
I wait
On the line
I wait for you to speak
Of some good news to hear
While we talk ....

Our history was held in objects and places. We didn't realize as children that we were standing amongst the ashes of the loves of our ancestors. Still, we knew back then that love was possible and that we'd all move mountains for it.
I wrote this song for my adopted daughter. She was raised by a mother who saw her as a burden and went through alot of physical and sexual abuse. But this song isn't just about that. It's about her overcoming all that and becoming a strong woman.
I was sitting at an open jam when a guy approached me and said he liked my playing. He then began telling me about the nightmare he went through as a soldier in Iraq. He then said no one understands him or can connect with him. He feels like…
I wrote this thing in 1994. When I played it to some friends back then they went "yeah, but where's the rest of it?"
I've been struggling with that concept ever since. Then, a while ago, a couple of kindly souls removed that worry from me…
Here we go.
This one started out one morning several weeks ago when the sun was still shining...
If it's as wet and dark as it is here, just close your eyes, I'm sure you can imagine it if you try hard enough...
Lollies, chips, and beer…
