Song-writing Demo for FAWM 2022
Song number 6
Written Friday 11th February 2022

I was meant to be resting and chilling.
In fact, I was resting and chilling.

But then I got a message from Lala saying she was listening to the new songs on the train from Brighton.
What can I say?
It sounded like a good title to me.
I happened to touch a G chord on a guitar that just happened to be beside me…
And the first line of the melody came out of my mouth…
I just had to write it after that.

Now, at the same time, Mrs R was on a train from Maidstone…
But she agreed that “She’s On The Train From Brighton” was a better title.

Thank you Lala xxxx (I hope it does wash off)

She’s On The Train From Brighton - A A J Russe

She’s on the train from Brighton
That little girl I adore
Still don’t know why she went there
What was she hoping for
Did she find it in The Lanes
Or underneath the pier
Did he buy her fish and chips
Pickled eggs and beer

She’s on the train from Brighton now
She says she’s coming home
She promised me a stick of rock
I hope that she’s alone
On the train from Brighton
She’s on the train from Brighton

She’s on the train from Brighton
She says that she’s ok
She’ll need a little rest she says
She’s had a tiring day
She met a bad man in The Lanes
Who took her on the pier
He made her buy him fish and chips
Cigarettes and beer

She’s on the train from Brighton
She’s says it rained all day
I saw it on the news and now
I don’t know what to say
I trusted her before she went
I see no reason why
I shouldn’t trust when she’s back
I’ve never known her lie

She’s on the train from Brighton now
She says it will wash off
She says it’s not a real tattoo
She’s sure it will wash off
On the train from Brighton
She’s on the train from Brighton

This is one of my favorites ever!!!! The tension builds as though she's really had quite the trip indeed.... What really happened on the pier... Excellent!!!!!

Great story telling. I love the Tattoo part. Some of those never wash off. Maybe that can be your next song.

Hahaha! An uplifting musical postcard which I'm sharing on facebook as I didn't send any! That made me smile! It's all true apart from the rain. (And I didn't touch the pickled eggs.) LL x :-D
