Smiling in the first few seconds. This is the Gumbo I love. Lies and Tales is one of my absolute favourites RPM albums of all time, so the bar is pretty high - but this is toe tapping classic Gumbo awesomeness. Yep yip.
I live in faith that one day somebody will make a movie or tv show in the appropriate milieu to feature your music and it will receive the accolades that it deserves. You're such a great songwriter and your sound is pure and authentic.
A happy song about being left by your no-good spouse. There's a word for the attitude in this song but I can't think of it right now ...
this is now a tidied up version 18/3/09
An old time fiddle tune without the fiddle, or the tune, really, so the vocal has to carry it, and it has that lovely raw propulsion. Written and recorded in an hour.
Sassy Nation version!
Sister Savage and Mr Sandbags collaborated on the original of this wonderful heartbreaker of a song. I've been playing it on the guitar the last few days and it always seemed to come out with a grittier tone, so i asked…

This was an RPM track back in the day, and I've been playing it various ways to find a setting for it within the band repertoire. This doesn't sound much like our band would do it but it came out nicely, so i thought i'd share it.
Final version
Day 28
Anyone else still writing songs?
this is the result of trying to listen to too many mixes in one day. Sometimes it's just easier to record something else.

I'm not sure if this is rockabilly or late 40s jump R'n'B. Dance music though. I had fun with the lyrics and the backing vocals.

Space Trumpet was an excuse to try out my new plugin "Little Spacey" from Expert Sleepers and also to exercise the Kore sounds from Acoustic Refractions.
MIDI was supplied via IAC from Reaktor using Lazyfish's Spiral sequencer. The project…
This is my 12 hour song (written, recorded, mixed, mastered) ... I pined away all day at it while a storm kept me company.
instrumentation:
a man lost his house and sold me his fretless bass for next to nothing. a family friend gave me…
A moody solo acoustic thing that I came up with playing in a long forgotten tuning. Just got a new Zoom H4N, so this was recorded in my shop sitting at my reedmaking bench may 12 2009
I'm better at using my pots and pans for music than for food, so I post this tune in hunger. 3 pots, 1 pan, and a tabla.
"i'm just a gangsta in the jungle" recorded in the amazon. It's actually a part of a monologue that I will likely never post…
Thanks guys and gal(s).
And thanks for keeping it in perspective, moschell. I'll see what I can do. Time is short tho' so it might have to grow it's own wings.
Sam was a very articulate and kind friend; he spend way too much of his life in a wheel chair and yet demonstrated a lot of grace.
We lost him just over a year ago.
Among many other unexpected, Christ-like kindnesses, he realized at one point…
Vocals and percussion are courtesy of another recent alonetoner, K. Scot Sparks. While recording a simple guitar track in Kev's garage, things got intersting when we opened the garage door, and let the sounds of this huge flock of birds in the…
After yesterdays experiment with noise gates and vocal transformers I thought I'd have another go using Rytme as the source material.
A single Rytme track with multiple playheads is playing into a Logic channel containing Kore playing the Absynth…
A second experiment with my new Rytme sequencer. This time Rytme is being fed into Logic to a track containing Kore 2 which is, in turn, hosting Kontakt 3 and the lovely Guzheng from Soniccouture (I bought the instrument before the new year but…
This is my cover of 'Lady Killigrew'. This song was originally done by Sister Savage, and Bethan Mathis, and can be found on either of their alonetone pages. I highly recommend their version. They sing prettier... probably look prettier too…
Cool Indeed! the vocals have a clarity that is true to the original idea and I love the tangential approach. Great stuff. Listened three times and still grinning!

Ha! Yes. My voice was shot on this one but I wanted the character to sound old so it felt appropriate :D Thanks for listening
Nice, vocals match the music perfect. :-}
Can I heart this song again? There. I did it.
Uh...what? Where? How?
Dude. You're such a good songwriter.
I love this track, something about the instruments movements really strikes a feeling. I cannot explain, but this song resonates.
You certainly have some lovely melodies on the guitar my fave so far although I like them all
Howling good riff
Nice playing just perfect for drinking coffee too

Cool---- the rough guitar and vocals fit the mix nice :-)
I could listen to this all day!
This is a classic indeed. Love your vocals too. Thanks for listen8mg to a few of mine as well. I hope all is well in your world.
Nice! Love the style and the lyrics
oh yes!! This is fun....more Kazoo :)
wow....so beautiful! Great lyrics. Seriously fantastic. I'm an old Dylan fan and this hits the spot.
Still brilliant.

Hey this is pretty cool.
That's a good excuse :~)
Lovely - that mix of wind instruments works beautifully
Lovely sound, kirk.
Lovely intro - reminds me of The Fleetwoods.
Makes me want to go play TombRaider! :~)

I'm glad somebody is taking this thing seriously!
Intriguing track. Lovely mix, Scot - Wow! I love the way it keeps coming round - Great.
Lovely. I think the vocal could come up a small bit
Love it! The title made me click and I wasn't disappointed - calming and charming, mournful and free!
Yeah this works for me too. Great while I'm working - it's really nice to concentrate to this.
I thought that was a real Kora for a while there. Nicely done!
That's a lovely song. Heartfelt. (unless you're making it all up??)
Another great pastiche. Put it on the bread indeed.
LMAO. :~)
Nailed it! lovely gentle groove.
Yes! Great version of a great song.
Instant fave over here on the Hill.
