Where it all began.
THE PERFECT CRIME
When you told me you'd be leaving
Without even telling him goodbye
I couldn't stop smiling all that evening
The closest I've been to being high
Now you've got my poor mind racing
Trying to keep…
Just a little instrumental.
HYGGE

noun: hygge
A quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture).
Not sure how I got here... but yeah, this is WAY cool. And yes, I can hear those piano runs... I THINK I'd have recognised them if you hadn't said... but it saves me wondering later (when we're trying to decide what to watch) why I'm suggesting Thomas Crown Affair!
There's a line in an Indigo Girls song that says, "If you need to know that you weathered the storm of cruel mortality, a hundred years later I'm sitting here living proof." For me, ever since hearing the words "cruel mortality," they have always…

The seeds of this song were sown years ago. If only those who left knew what they were headed for.
BACK TO SHORE
The sky was so high when you set out from shore
The sun at your back, you were longing for more
When it started to pour…

Well, this song showed up right at the end of the recording session, and it reminded me of why I do this - and it was just what I needed.
THANKS FOR COMING
I agreed to meet
I smile and take a seat
To hear you say how I could be a star…
This is my favorite track on the album, for a couple reasons. One, I know it wasn’t “planned.” I like that. I like imagining you channeling it. Two, the guitars. That nylon-stringed guitar adds a lovely texture. Three, your voice is superb on this. Perfect album closer. This album is certainly one to be proud of, my friend. Looking forward to seeing you in Portsmouth.
Of all the souvenirs, photos, baseball memorabilia, and musical instruments in my study, the item I value the most is one small 3x5 of my sister and me.
3x5 OF ME AND YOU
I sit with my belongings around me on the shelf
Pictures of my heroes…
The last of the original 29 Navajo Code Talkers died not long ago. Go look them up if you don't know the story. These were some of the finest men to ever serve.
CODE TALKER
Boys were dying across the ocean
Words were stolen, and codes…
This one, too. I listened to the album over at RPM but came over here to seek out my favorites so I could comment on the individuals. This guitar work is my favorite, both the tone and how it complements the vocal line.

Welcome to my RPM album. The line "You might not get what you want - You'll get what you deserve" came to me without me truly understanding it.
By the time I finished recording the album, it all made sense.
WHAT YOU DESERVE
Is this what…

Well EVERY album needs a love song!
CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF YOU
Doctor says my numbers aren't where they're suppose to be

I know I tend to get addicted to things that make me…
Sometimes we don't resist the brightest flame until it's too late.

Baby, you burn - I never learn until I'm on fire
A dangerous game - the hottest flame I've ever seen
I can't look away from your blinding display, drawn by desire…

Labyrinthine Life Fills the way
Tick-tock.
Time in a Bottle
Fast go the Seconds, Into Days,
Till the Time we wake up wide....
The Walls they hold us back
From the Brink of statute deep…
T,
Just getting over to listen to some of this good new stuff... Love the new direction of the arrangements. It's always so worthwhile to expand our musical horizons... And this expansion is definitely a good one.
Keith
"Four Walls" is the oldest song of the bunch. It was written early in 1992. I had been working with a drummer friend of mine for a while during the Fall 1991 semester. We'd get together once every few weeks and write and record to 4-track one…
Another Live performance with former band mates in Scartaglen back in 1988 on the NPR show Mountain Stage. This time a piece of Gaelic mouth music followed by 3 reels. Maybe the most complex arrangement of a set of tunes that we ever did.
2nd song for the RPM challenge in 2012. As always, feedback is appreciated!
Lyrics:
Hold on little girl. Don't lose hope.
Even though things seem so damn broken now,
I want you to know that it gets so much better.
My thoughts flow out, like…
Oh, so good. I always come away from your acoustic tracks feeling equal parts inspired and inadequate as a musician! I need to start studying your fingerings on these... It's about time I started learning how to really play this damn instrument.
rpm #3,, from a future themed piece to be called "the dark doll house" a place where yellow orange light drifts through soft gray curtains,,far away a child's laugh echos down the stair case,,

-Lyrics-
When the world is in battle,
It grows hard to see,
The fights that occur within lines.
Constant distraction dispensed
From the top
of the castle
With oil down its sides.
All of the effort
now wasted…

Song #2 for the RPMC. My goal is to have 12 short tunes (1-3 minutes long), so I need to pick up the pace.
Again, quartal tuning on the top 3 unison pairs of the 12 string. I've been listening to Ralph Towner's Blue Sun, hence the title.
1pm on Sunday. I'm not back in work until Tuesday. We've just had a delicious roast dinner that I cooked, and the glass of wine we had with it is helping it go down. As a crisp February sun twinkles through the window I realise that for the first…
Another cut from the 1988 cassette tape of a live performance by Scartaglen on the NPR show Mountain stage. This time some tunes from County Kerry.
Kirk Lynch- Uilleann pipes and whistle. Becky Pringle- Fiddle. Mike Dugger- Fiddle and guitar…
Now, where has this perfect little nugget been hiding?!?!? Nobody can write and sing a love song like you, Sam. This is amazing. I may need to cover this one (he said sheepishly, hoping to get the verses and chords sent to him via gmail).
We held a charity Gig at St Mary’s Church in December 2011.
Here is a Recording of the night entitled “Wrens Friends presents – Cloud Horses”.

Glad you like the Nick Drake cover, T! Hey, love that you're a part of the fight for autism awareness... Coincidentally, I've written a song for a friend whose son has autism (and has helped start the G-man foundation that sounds very much like the Sunrise Programme). I've told her if there's any way my song can be used to help the cause, it's all hers.
So great to hear you continuing to fight the good fights, T!
Take care,
Keith
Music and lyrics by me. Hope you enjoy. :)

In time I'll fall apart,
And you can watch it all with dried up eyes.
Our life revolves around a worsening reflection of how helpless we are.
Lights out.

Liking this one! reminds me of a little ditty we did a few years back called Leaf Hate: https://themaadmen.bandcamp.com/track/leaf-hate

You are a great lyricist
I really love this

Also, love the whistling. Axl Rose, eat your heart out
Your guitar tone on this one is delicious
Theme song for our shared insanity :)
This is incredible Keith, cheers
You went over and above! Nice!
Great songwriting! Really digging the album!
I've had this album playing through my house all morning. An absolute triumph, Keith. Magnificent performances, and the writing absolutely shines. Serious kudos!
Very beautiful melody - music box perfection. Every song on this album is *so* strong. Love the build at .48 also.
Absolutely loving the open air feel to the guitar line from the get go .

Always love hearing some good ol' fashioned Colin Garvey rock and roll.
Who knew a missing member of the Foo Fighters was living in my childhood hometown of Methuen?
Man, LOVING the acoustic stuff, Kavin! Soooooo good.
So great to hear the purity of this song performed by one talented man and his instrument. First rate, Corbin!
Just back to listen again. Pure magic, these live tracks.
Man, the radio-ready stuff you churn out is just incredible.
Oh, so good. I always come away from your acoustic tracks feeling equal parts inspired and inadequate as a musician! I need to start studying your fingerings on these... It's about time I started learning how to really play this damn instrument.
Outstanding delicate arrangement and performance, Richard!
Verrrry smooth. Definitely belongs on a soundtrack. No need for the vocal or lead guitar hook. I wouldn't mess with it one bit.
Instant fave. The purity of Cat Stevens. Truly spectacular track, Tharek.
Oh my goodness. This is amazing.
Sooooooooo good. I continue to be amazed by the incredible stuff you produce, Kavin!
Ha! First one in! Beautifully done as always, Richard. Once again, you make me wish I could play piano.
19-month-old knows what she's talking about.
These live performances are just outstanding. Please, please, please keep digging them up and sharing them with us!

So lucky to have been invited to sing with such a amazing talent... God, what a voice.
Holy crap. I'm always blown away, but this track is a cut above.
