This is about Mary, the Mother of God and mother of us all. For those who aren't Catholic, Catholics don't worship Mary, we honor her and pray for her intercession, just as people ask other people to pray for them. Mary brings us to Jesus.
This is the well known Catholic prayer, Come Holy Spirit. I have my whole family singing on this one and my brother Mike also playing bass. We switch off singing lead - myself first, Mark next and then Mike.
I wrote this in the early 1990's during Desert Storm and after a conversation with my brother-in-law, Er4ic, t the time who was sent over there to fight.

My wife got me a mandolin for either Christmas or a birthday and I think this was one of the first songs I wrote on it.
My Father
Here in this foreign land
The Lord God takes my hand
One day - the Promised Land
And no more I’ll cry…
I wanted this song to sound like something Chris Isaak would do.

This was written for my mother, Frances Lisney who died on 1/04/08. She was a saintly woman. The guitar is in a full D tuning.

Though it was the right time
We feel so alone
How the tears are burning
Our Lord has called you home…
This song came from prayer and is to give hope and encouragement to all who are having trouble moving forward due to their past.

This is a poem written by my late grandmother, Margaret Nina Hogan, written for her first daughter, Dolores. This was probably written in the early 1930's in England. My grandmother wrote a lot of poems throughout her life and i have put about…

I wrote this song a number of years ago - perhaps some time in the mid 90's and recorded it at the time on cassette tape. This is a new recording of it but produced like the original. It's about someone I knew who was mentally ill with some form…
Thanks Sandra - glad to hear you enjoy the songs. I will pray for your friends - Bradley was the man’s name. Sorry I couldn’t send this privately -as far as I know there is no way to respond other through another comment
I wrote this song after reading the book, Immanuel's Veins by Ted Dekker. At the end of the story the main character recalls the first verse of a hymn. I looked it up on the internet and learned that it is a hymn by an Englishman, William Cowper…
I recorded this to sound like something the early Beatles would have done. There are about ten Beatle songs referenced in it. My children (now all adults) were singing on this and I like the end where they can be heard laughing.
This is a poem by A. A. Milne from his children's book, WINNIE-THE_POOH. The musical setting and tune is my own. I just discovered that there is one more verse, so I'll probably record it again.
Hi Sandra - thanks for your comment. In answer to your question I had a forgotten I had found another verse to the poem, so, no I haven’t recorded more.it’s been a long time and I’ll have to re-learn how I played the song! I see that the third verse is about a chicken!
This a prayer given to St. Gertrude which I put to music a few years ago. If said devoutly it will free 1,000 souls from purgatory. Purgatory is where we go to get "cleaned up" if we aren't quite ready to be with God.

Well it's been awhile for me. Busy summer and a bit of creative block all around. I'm happy to share a song I wrote this weekend to reflect on how tough change can be when you're in the midst of it. So many in my life are in the midst of personal…

I will pray for all your intentions. Don't despair, Our Lord is kind and merciful and has already atoned for your sins and mine! Rejoice and be glad! He will see that your loved ones and all those your sins affected will have the grace to come to Him. Be at peace!
Paul

This is a demo of my latest song. I may keep it as the final or re-record it. I played the gutiar and sang it live and there is a mic pop/bump that is audible. i added the vocal harmony afterwards, of course. It's about growing up Catholic as…
Well, I'm almost on a roll now - this little love song was written, arranged, and recorded in just a week. I've been meaning to attempt something like this for years, just never got round to it.
I'd actually settled down to finally record a…
Next in the little pile of songs from the shoe-box. This one has the date 27th January 1994 written on it, but it's describing an episode from many years earlier when I was, I'm guessing, something like 12 or 13 years old.

Thank you, Sandra. Often when I read poems or prayers a melody comes right away, especially if it is an uncomplicated meter.
Thanks, Sandra!
Hi Sandra - that was my children! They helped sing and clap at the end of the song. They are all grown now ranging from late 20’s to early 30’s.

Heartfelt lyrics - you can tell it came from real feelings, not just something made up. Paul
Nice production on this - powerful guitar sound. You sound American, not English! I've lived in the USA for 40 years and still sound English! Paul
Nice feel and a good vocal. Thanks for commenting on my song, Closer. Paul
