I'm Never Sure What I Should Do (Version 2.1)

UPDATE: I remixed this. I replaced the plate reverbs with rooms. I don’t know if it’s better or not.

I told myself that the Quarantine Tunes thing was going to end after volume six. Then I picked songs (mostly from the last couple of RPM Challenges) for volume seven… and then for volume eight. I need a new hobby, don’t you think?

I took a couple of months off from music to sort of gear myself up some major elective surgery, and then a third month for recovery. During that stretch of time my guitar playing skills have gone right down the toilet, and it sounds like maybe my mixing skills have joined them.

This was my favorite song from the 2022 RPM. I tacked on a short intro (which is really just the last couple of bars of the song) and an extra little solo section at the end, bumped up the tempo a tad, and tuned everything down a half step. For the mix I messed with plate reverbs instead of room reverbs and I am not sure I like it.

The rhythm guitar is my Gibson SG Standard ( because post-surgery I am not supposed to lift anything too heavy, and the SG is lighter than my Les Paul) into an Earthquaker Devices The Depths, into a Klon KTR into a Vox AC15. The lead guitar is my Les Paul Standard (because by the time I got to the leads I was feeling more confident lifting slightly heavier things… fascinating, I am sure) into a Wren and Cuff Super Russian and an MXR Carbon Copy Mini into the Vox AC15.

Chorus
I’m never sure what I should do
if only I could see it through
Out of true

Verse 1
apparently
I couldn’t see
it mattered to you
the consequence
in my defence
what else could I do

Verse 2
occurs to me
its not for free
so what can I say
overused trope
can’t seem to cope
there’s no other way

Saved!
