when i was 18 i took in a runaway
she crawled into my bed on the 7th day
i played her music and i cooked her food
i did everything i thought i should
i let her sleep late and i paid her way
then her dad showed up one day
well she had grown…
you tell me what you want
you tell what you need
i cant give you nothing honey
but this pretty little seed
where has the sun gone
and is it gone forever
will it come back someday
should we just give it some time
i ask you what…

oooo nice opening.... beautiful interlude, interesting allegorical kind of story about the runaway. I love the way you tell stories in your songs. I also like your voice best when it stands alone, don't think it needs your other voices. :) ~danielle

i saw the curtains changing color
i watched the sun room come alive
i have been sitting in this rocker
wondering when you might arrive
i am hoping for redemption
cant stand the way i feel
i know it is only passing through me
rivers flood…
you are like the rain that falls with the snow
or is it the other way around
i dont know
all i know is i love you
and cant get above you
it is driving with no place to go
the muscle and the bone i find
that keeps my heart in line
just…
i am thinking about words tonight
they can be hard as nails
they-can be as shapeless as water
they can break your heart
they can hang like a chain
hold you up for years
cause you to think twice
take away your fears
you are falling in love…
you are like the rain that falls with the snow

a river of emotions. the guitar and lyric flow through the mind. they embody powerful desire. she knows you. you cannot say no to her. it is a very good song. 0x0

I love alonetone, but one of the things I'm having trouble getting used to is that you can't reply to comments (?, or can you...?). So, the organ tone in 'soak' is sampled from one of those old reed pump organs. My parents have had one forever, and I sampled some notes and plugged them into MachFive. Other than that I use Digital Performer on an aging Mac. Guitars are direct for the most part, through some effects, and drums are samples, either my own kit or other samples. How about you?

Imagine a Mexican quintette playing a fast waltz. There are 3 melodies played in 3/4 time, in a sort of non-standard ABCABC format. The title is a photographic/geographic/melodic play on words. There is a merging of European waltz and Mexican…
Another song in the works that I have never been happy with. Now that Mr. Tolar has me feeding raw meat to the Ibanez, this is the result. So, it's either a rocker, or I'm off my rocker!

It was yesterday

she's leaving…
I'm almost totally happy with this song except it is for the mix. I would appreciate any comments on how to improve it. Is too bassy and the mix has a big blip in the beginning where it gets louder for a second. I know I can fix some of that with…
Straight ahead stone city electric blues for an old friend who used to spend hours spinning BB King and Mike Bloomfield records for me. Recorded back sometime at the end of 2006 on old analog equipment
sunshines on waves of grain
purple mountains are turning grey
duck and cover, the theme of the day
as times collide in the USA
spacious skies pourin' rain
Mississippi she's floodin the plains
run for cover, it's comming your way

Left from Carolina headed for New Orleans

A one hour track start to finish - words music and all the faffing around at the end to get the levels right.
It's a ghost story. So go get your cocoa now!
And a Murder ballad and a love story (but aren't they all).

An old Stephen Foster song (Pub. Domain)
Always waiting, hopeful sorrow.
Featuring my spouse, Marily!!!!
I could have picked a song to do her justice, next time. My phrasing is kind of hard to follow...
great story. i am getting into your understated vocals. this is my favorite so far. reminds me a little of marcy playgrounds best stuff, a little more mellow but the same great sense of melodic timing
nice

I like this Tim, I can actually hear the sun coming up in this song.
Great acoustic guitar sound. Do you use condenser mics for acoustic? I like the lyrics and harmony vocals also.
I love your album cover and profile pic--where'd they come from?

Hey man, Finally catching up with alonetone. Thanks for all your generous comments--I like your stuff too. I love the beat/feel of this song.
Tim these songs are amazing! -Aaron-
This one has a really nice vibe; the marriage of vocals, melody, production, lyrics, and playing go really well together.
beautiful!!! excellent mix of tunes, to make a complement with the lyric. A perfect melody

here is where the new york poem went. i will also repost. thanks for asking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMdcQxFdJW0
i can get you the other versions. for me most of the time it is a matter of whittling the recording down, finding the silence among the sound,
that you bethan, sister, glue, rebecca, it means a lot to know that you are listening.
could mix the percussion a little farther back
bass line is beautiful.
wow great voice. i will listen more.
