Well here’s my contribution to the Pirate challenge from Robert Palomo. I think you’ll agree it was time to call it a night on this one, but it was a lot of fun writing and recording it! Hope it gives you a chuckle or two.
Why Do Parrots Love Pirates
Verse 1:
There are times I feel like a parrot
Who’s got lots of living to do
Why would I hang with a Pirate
Who’s got just one leg to shoe
His shoulders are bony and smelly
His hair stringy and thin
You may wonder why I’d ever put
My Parrot claws on him

Why do Parrots love Pirates?
It’s a mystery that’s true
But If I were a Pirate,
I’d want a Parrot too

Pirates have a salty life
They don’t learn from their mistakes
They roam about and lie and steal
And make their Parrot’s heart ache
Parrots have bright plumage
Making Pirate’s swagger so fine
But the Pirate smells like cabbage
And just repeats the same tired lines

What a lovely song. Perfect for a Broadway musical about an old parrot looking back on it's life. Or an old pirate, too, I guess.

Arrrrrr . ....... I started me morning out right for a change! A great listen and a darn good chuckle. That damn parot in the background was good entertainment and the perfect balance to you lilting song.

"Smells like cabbage" - too funny!! This is great pirate song! The uke evokes a tropical island that has been visited by pirates. And ye've learned well yer pirate speak, briny wench... arrr!
