A tale of keeping your head above the water, or not...
Recorded Jan-Feb 2011.
I wrote it many years ago, never thought I'd ever do anything with it.
I intended to record this with just an acoustic and my new EDB (electric upright bass…
This is a collaboration with a prolific chap called James Higgins (oldrottenhead on songcrafters.org), based on an instrumental of mine from a couple of years ago: http://alonetone.com/andyr/tracks/muletide
I was quietly minding my own business…
Fantastic ... just found my way here Andy ... and just realized orh is singing on this! I was looking for A Hundred And Twenty Pound on Songcrafters but couldn't find much ... I'll be back ... great stuff!!!

New one from me. It's ended up as a bit of a "crying into yer beer at Bob's Country Bunker" sort of song lol...
I've been sat on these lyrics in some form or another for absolutely years. I first wrote them one very dark night a few years after…
Hi Andy, I just got signed up here, and I'm glad to see that you are here as well.
I just wanted to comment on this, your latest song...
I find words difficult to say how much this song moves me!
I think this is a Perfect song!
I am a fan,

Just enjoyed rolling through your 5 "Latest Music" tracks. You have a very nice sound. Remind me of a guy I used to play coffee house gigs with, Rick Walker. Nice work mate. :)
And thanks so much for all of the kind comments on my tracks. Really encouraging to hear fellow musicians say such positive things.
Pop-rock tale about a character in a novel that I fancied. Recorded in 2009 on a Boss MBR.

A few months back we had a "Beatlesfest" on songcrafters.org.
I contributed this and Yesterday.
This one's a bit of a departure for me. Not the song itself - it's been one of my favourites ever since I was tiny (I preferred Robin Gibb's…

Big applause Andrew, great lyrics, almost therapeutical.
The music is giving the right accent on the lyrics, totally fitting!
(And I am relieved you came over the shock and relaxed when you heard my music! :-) I had a big smile seeing your comment!

Acoustic ghost story. Recorded 2010.
Easter 2010 I decided…
OH my, I was attracted by the title of the song, thinking to find something scary, but how I am mistaken, because this is a Beauty in all ways, although sad story, but even the lyrics have a wave in it, that is so beautiful, not to talk about the great musical arrangement and the way you sing it! Wonderful!!!
One of my two contributions to a "Beatlesfest" we had over on songcrafters.org a few months back.
I still can't believe I covered this... having done it though, it feels like nothing is sacred. And, more worryingly, I feel I might possibly…

You made it to the top big boy.......top of the world......very deserved for this song..............when you make it to the top of Alonetone, thats high praise indeed.

(Remastered 22/10/2021)
Here it is in all of its glory...
THIS is the song that Mrs R and I had decided was a suitable response to a request to "Upload something HAPPY, stat!!!!!!!!!"
I tried to record it back in 2013 when I wrote it…
Don't usually comment on my own songs, but in case there's any confusion... YES Greg - there is no humour in the song at all, none intended, I feel it the same way as you... and I actually love it for that myself... it's what the song evolved into from a joke verse I wrote (In Tom Waits voice, Roger! hehe) ... But when I was first recording it, in my own voice, x years ago it was SO sad (and not in a "Bobby Goldsboro - Honey" good kind of way) that we decided to put it in the filing cabinet for a while!
A song that sort of wrote itself, quite quickly, wouldn't say it's a happy song, but
sometimes you can't help what pops out.

MN Homebrew Radio show has a monthly writing contest. This month it was to use the word "wait" or "waiting" in your song. So the hook line of the chorus popped into my head at 5:30 in the morning and the rest of the song came pretty quickly…
I BUY GUITARS
Em
One man might buy cigarettes and waste it all in smoke
Another marijuana and share a friendly toke
Am
Another, with more money, might invest in antique cars
Em
I buy guitars
A man might buy a baseball card
Keep it…
I have no memory of writing or recording this song. I have no idea what it's about.
CONNIE'S SONG
Em D C B...
(Em) Before I knew anything (D) about you, I (C) loved you
(Em) Whenever you would show, I stared in (D) wonder
I heard you…
Not sure if this one is worthy of the 6:00 running time as it's not nearly that much of a prog epic. I think I over did the padding (unintentionally). I could have cut the break in the middle considerably, and the solo at the end could be cut…
Love the 335 lead. I see what you mean about mixing, though. And the drone - that's a cute idea. I wasn't gonna listen now (VERY late, VERY drunk), but the description of the drone made me press play. Sounds cool, but I almost wanted more of it - I am drunk, though! That lead, wow, wanna switch a guitar on now... but... there's always tomorrow/today... and bed feels like a good idea.

WITHOUT THINKING
capo @ 3 in C
C I do things without E thinking
Am (walk down) I admit it's true
But I do C nothing without G thinking about C you
Am I turn a corner
Em I pump some gas
F I fold a pillow case
C I wash a G glass
I stand…
Oh yeahhhhhhhh... Of the three - Simone, the Paul and the Strat - I think I'd go for the Paul myself... if I wasn't so married it might be different :)
Oh yesss... I did miss this one when you posted it... Found it now, though. Love it. I can't get my missus to sing. I was sure she had a few "Hey Hey"s in her... Anyways... this is fab. DADGAD and the mix of voices floating over it.
actually a song i only wrote a few weeks ago rather than one from eons ago lol...
wanted to keep this recording as simple & raw as possible since i have a bad habit of over working/over editing stuff, so hopefully that shows somewhat…
Another new song
KC
----------------------------------
Where in the world did we go wrong
All the bad guys are coming on so strong
We're slowly losing all our rights
A quiet revolution overnight
Whenever you think that it's not right…
Did you know that if you use a drummer in GarageBand you can shut off the snare drum? I didn't. I setup the entire song with the drummer (Benny) and then copied the track to a standard MIDI drums track and deleted all the snare hits. Cool…
Comments on Andrew Russe's stuff

This bare-bones version really showcases how great this melody is. Well done!

A: I loved the title the moment I saw it. B: It rocks. C: I have a similar Dark Cellar (but it's on the 1st floor!)
Oh that's happy enough for me!! Love it.
Love the vibe of this one. And that harp. Blissful.
Yes. Very very cool.
I'm falling off the sofa in hysterics here... love it.
Oh this is WELL COOL. Giving Mrs R a tour of the MTBottles peeps. I haven't heard Mark Imsdahl for ages and ages ... so smooth.
Oops... just ordered another one....
Mrs R loves this one too :)

Still love this one. Pity I can't favourite it twice...
Yep... My name is Andrew, and I buy guitars
This one touches me.
There should be a "happily" somewhere in that last comment (in case she's reading... hehe)
