It was meant to be a full band pop-rock song. But I started overdubbing on the original exploratory demo I'd done to work out the arrangement (with no click track). I kept coming back to it intending to start afresh... but…

Another wonderful track , I still think I can Here shades of Roy Harper in your music , and in my book that is a good thing , that isn't taking anything away from your songwriting , you are still very original

A cover of Justin Currie's Sleep Instead of Teardrops. Recorded 2010.
It has always been one of my favourite Del Amitri songs. I was strumming away at it one day and my missus said I should record it...
@ facemask - there's time yet! I hope... lol
There's a LOT of competition though... and to be honest, I only really started saying what I wanted when I gave up the idea of becoming famous!!

All that we do
its just me and not you
always the same
keep your head in the game
## pre-chorus
and away, and away…
This song was written for those interested to hear a list of breakfast cereals.
Also, when you reverse "all brands kellogg's" you can hear "smell that in your pool" which makes an interesting title.

Bats and mosquitos
Toad frogs and flies
Like algae and oil spills

:) I wondered if that was the case - but then the "oh here's some words, whatever, at least they rhyme" often speak the loudest to the listeners! ... It's just gone 8am here. Just seen Mrs R off (her boss collects her - she's a nanny), I've been working since 6.15am... doesn't look like the sun is actually coming out today here!

Short but very sweet... These short ones encourage me to add all sorts of extra meaning myself as I'm listening. That's kinda what happens when we listen to songs anyway - no matter how much the lyrics are designed to lead us to certain conclusions or "points of view"... a song never really says what the songwriter thinks it says ... but these short ones encourage this "listener completes the song" process even more, they let my mind run free ... love it.

Cool track. But does she like it like this? What did you play to her originally? I suspect that creating a second version, closer to what she was expecting would be the safe thing to do.... LOL
It’s like floating down a river
When you’re not quite in control
That river’s going to take you
Only where it wants to go
So you reach out with conviction
At debris along the way
That river’s going to take you
If you give up and say…

Cool sounds and fabulous lyrics. Over the last few days I've been sharing this very message in various forms in various places... That's probably why I like it so much... And I've come across others saying the same thing... It might not be filtering through to the media (at least not the stuff I'm seeing/hearing)... but then it's not very news-worthy! ... But if there's a bunch of us ordinary people thinking and saying this and similar... then I'm feeling quite encouraged :)
(Sadly, sometimes one friend thinks they are more than friends?)
Friend, she calls me friend. and I'll never tell her the truth
What I feel, how I wish that this friend could be so much more
But she's too close to ever see, that this friend…
Nice one. I've often talked about this situation with my wife (usually when we're watching Four Weddings and a Funeral!!) ... I'm convinced boys and girls experience this friend vs possible partner thing slightly differently, she's convinced I'm wrong... oh well, at least I don't have to worry about this kinda thing anymore!! (it happened to me a couple of times in my 20s-40s)

Only just seen your reply on this one - about HAIM's version of the Fleetwood Mac song... I keep getting recommended it on youtube - I shall press play ..... WOW! The reason I keep getting recommended it is because I'm a big fan of Larkin Poe, have you heard of them? Check out their "Tip O the Hat" series of home vids - two sisters, lead and backing vox, six string and... a KILLER lap-steel player (thinking of getting one)(a lap-steel, not a Megan Lovell, she's already taken!)
It’s a Parthian Shot, from my head to my heart
Another night gone between the dusk until the dawn
I’m sending a signal flare up
A fever dream but it’s real
I’m asleep at the wheel
It seems every time that my body breaks down
I’m sending…

The lens inside your head is good enough tonight
No filter can project your mind
The colors seem to dull, an uninspired shade
Dare witness, don’t close your eyes
Take the leap and be surprised

I hear the whispers again, so best I start
Mending my broken heart
I’ve gone to weaving again, needle and thread
Mending my aching head
Can’t you tell I just wanted to love you, but you were making other plans
So fare thee well and remember…

This one makes me chuckle...
At last, the prayers of breakfast cereal lovers the world over have been answered... they might be scared off by that title, though LOL

Cool sounds. Wasn't sure what to expect reading your profile. But this makes a really good start to my day.
