Not at all, Norm. In fact, thanks so much for being technical. Baiao is a preset pattern in EZD from a collection called "Cocktail". I just stumbled upon it in the planning stages of this tune and it seemed perfect. I YouTubed some Baiao vids. The rhythms are infectious. Thanks again!

Lovely! Naturally, the percussion hooked me right away. I love it.
"Baiao", from a clave perspective, is "calypso", in that it repeats the 1st bar of "son clave", I.e. 1 2+ 4, over and over.
I don't want to be too technical about this, but wanted to give you some feedback that from a percussionist perspective, this is a solid piece of work, with a rhythm that gives a nice flavor - from Trinidad or Brazil. Well done!
Thanks so much for all your kind words on this.
Richard-This was actually the first MIDI tune I did back in 2009. It was really kind of a test. I downloaded Cellofan and plugged it into my sequencer (Samplitude 2008) and was amazed at how it sounded. After a bit of jamming, my fingers just seemed to go to the right place for that melody and I built the rest of the tune around it.
Robert-It's funny you should mention that you actually like when the percussion comes in. Most people say "Hey, You really had me almost asleep there, then the drums woke me up"! Not consistent! What's wrong with that! Contrast is great! Franz Schubert used contrast in the second movement of his 8th (Unfinished) symphony. It starts out so sweet and serene, but changes to a dark and intense feel real quick. Glad at least somebody agrees with me.

nicely done,, what keyboard and synth are you using,,overall a nice development,, you are taking a simple idea (and that's a complement) and exploring it a bit with the various instrument/sounds,, that's exactly what i try to do, on my third listen,, and it keeps my attention... well done
Lyrics:
Crazy people, wander round all night
Looking toward the Heavens
At little specs of light
Dragging round their telescopes
And Binoculars
All the tools they need to gaze among the stars
Crazy people, look at what they do…
It aint like no ones done this before
But how can you tire of beautiful chords
In the fifties
In Tenessee
Where my love
was born
Two young men upped and
crossed the yard
both cold cos it was rainin hard.
One of them turned said…

Had these backing tracks laying around on my drive for a while and didn't know what to do with them, so grabbed my Ebow and a fretless electric that I built for myself a couple years ago and had a go. My fretless playing is really in its infancy…
Well, after a couple of nights of recording, this is my effort for RPM's Holiday Challenge. Personally, O Holy Night is my favorite of all Christmas Songs. I added a little winter love song intro...

Did the guitar tracks first, followed by bass, then drums and vocals last. I wrote this song in a bookstore, after I came home and recorded it, I realized I made the song too short for all the lyrics.

Admital - the main guitar part for this was written and recorded for last RPM (shock horror!)but I had to give up on it when the file corrupted. Managed to salvage the audio though so rebuilt it around that. This year I managed to mix down just…

Mining the archives a bit. This is an alternate take of my "Jimi Jam" from a couple of years ago. Live to 2 tracks with the Jamman. Really only sounds OK when cranked up loud enough that your eardrums threaten to meet in the middle. LOL!!
Sitting around in my shop a couple of days ago with the Goodall and the Zoom H4N. First time I've really messed with using the internal mics on the H4N in multitrack mode
Thanks so much for all your kind words on this.

Several years ago I had a short lived duo with an oboe and English horn player named Nat. This is a demo from that period. It's an old old chord progression of mine that never really had a melody and Nat improvised this melody in the studio to…
