A bit of improv done yesterday with my newly refurbished fretless guitar. Finally got the midi pickup to track almost right! Part of the sounds were gotten by rubbing a teaspoon on the strings.
Well, I like it. Almost a kichey throwback to hearts of space type cascading ambient, which no one really does anymore. Has a kind of slightly on edge shrill I find interesting.

Solo acoustic guitar recorded January 2nd 2009. Hope to do a longer more developed version at some point ,but for now just a short version to learn more about using new DAW software.

Several years ago I had a short lived duo with an oboe and English horn player named Nat. This is a demo from that period. It's an old old chord progression of mine that never really had a melody and Nat improvised this melody in the studio to…

Maybe I missed a career scoring for no budget spaghetti westerns, because this is what this reminds me of. Done live a couple weeks ago with the Taylor and a floor full of toys and loopers.
Maybe a career, or a time...

This is a mess but when we tried to clean it up it killed the spirit of it so we decided to just take off our critics hat and just enjoy the energy of it.
FOREVER by James Michael Taylor
My baby say she loves me. Gonna love me forever…
Recorded in 2001; me on guitars and vocals and Frank Reynolds, the drummer from my most recent band, on drums. Drums recorded in our barn's hayloft onto three tracks of a cassette four-track recorder (along with a scratch guitar track), then transferred…
The chorus of this groove is in 5/4 and the verse in 9/4. You can hear me fall apart at the very end… guess I got worried.
Lyrics:
*Try not to get worried*
*I am with you always*
*Try not to get worried*
*And don’t forget*
*Simply…
Hanging out in the living room with one of my sons, just making stuff up. I wish I'd had the recorder closer to him - whistle too loud, guitar too soft.

Most excellent. Thats an improv.
Fantastic playing! You've captured the feel of winter day really well on this.
Ethereal sounds-cape!! Fine piece of music!
I like the synths. Really starts it out with a certain tone.
a lot of yearning in that melody, incredible stuff!
still love this, so cool!
Brillant work Kirk. Glad to see some new ones from you! :)
really nice,, a very full/orchestral sound,, lots of nice space within these notes, the stretched quality of the fretless is really nice
Kirk, first of all, thank you for your kind words. They mean the world to us. As for this track, it is astoundingly beautiful!!! w;-)
this is mysteriously beautiful Kirk!
Dreamy. Orchestral, and foreboding. More of that Kirk!
VERY cool.
Inventive and magnificently chilling!
Menacing!

Very innovative young fella. Interesting item, that midi guitar pickup.

Lovely stuff there! Missed this one somehow
Nice! I'm digging the raw edge to this one, especially that guitar stuff at around 3 minutes.
Well- that kicks some ass. Nice transition into the mellower part as well.
Very enjoyable. Maybe I have a case of that insanity
Beautiful stuff man! This in one of those Hedges C tunings?
Makes me wish I had a guitar that had a decent twang bar on it. Nice work!
Yeah- I'm digging this one for sure!
