Seasonal Affective Disorder
I woke up this morning and looked out the window at all of the snow. The endless landscape of blank, frozen emptiness, and I just felt sick. I wanted nothing more than to go back to bed and sleep until May. So what did I do to combat this depression? I wrote a lyric titled Seasonal Affective Disorder.
The music is really simple and that was by design. I’d sketched out a few songs that seemed more complicated than they needed to be. This was a response to that.
The guitars are all ES-335 and the amp was my old gasoline soaked (really) Fender Stage.
Lock the doors at night
and put out the light
batten down the hatches
hiding from the white
some might call this life
seasonal
affective disorder
can’t escape the fog
fastest mode is plod
can’t get out of your own way
swimming through the smog
like a beaten dog
The guitar work out in this one is particularly tasty. Intriguing topic. "Hiding from the white" -- for real! Keep it real, Man. The drums and bass and lead guitar and rhythm and chord arrangement and vocals and mix down and mastering -- all of it ROCKS!
