A composition written backwards. I started with the relative harmony/coherence of the final measures and retrogressively dismantled it, concluding with the relative chaos of the opening.
"Afoxe" is a rhythm played by carnival groups from Bahia in Northeastern Brazil. It is named after an instrument that is traditionally used to play this pattern: an afoxe is a beaded gourd; aka "shekere". In this rendition, I replaced the shaker…
I couldn't resist crossing swords with Alex on this deft song of his which left me quite touchéd!
*Inspired in part at least by accidental meat on meat.*

It was about sunrise when I met this guy on the streets of the French Quarter and bought him coffee. I don't know if he's still around -- that was some 20 years ago -- but a two-hour conversation affected my life more than I would have ever known…
More like a cover of the bauhaus cover of Bowie's song.
Recorded last night in under two hours from starting programming the drums to posting. Recorded for songcrafters.org's Bowie Fest.
All playing by me, Roland HD-1 (drums), godin xtSA, Epi Sheraton, bass, keys. Recorded/mastered on Boss BR-1200.
Twilight turns into a psychedelic sunrise
The vision has me right between my eyes
Everything is glowing with a strange light…
great job Dave ......diggin that solo...oooh yeah.....like what your doing with those backing vocals too......and the organ and the spacious drums work beautifully
A friend of mine asked me to write this for a mutual friend's 21st birthday. For the record, my voice is not actually that nasally. I was asked to write the song in a Broadway show-stopper style, so I decided to give the voice some character.
Come Tomorrow

I'm like a tumbleweed, got no roots
I'm like a climbing vine, leaves and chutes
Come tomorrow, I might not be around
Come tomorrow
I'm a reflection, you see me in your mirror
A missed connection, so far and yet right here…
