It's a great song, Alex. And gets better with repeated listenings. It's in there with some other songs i am particularly listening to on my iPod and (rather than the usual - "damn i'm supposed to be doing something for this") I am blown away by how straightforwardly great it is. You might think there's a 'cheese' factor but it's well written, direct and clear. Bravo.
The B side to Dad's father's day present. This is an instrumental celebration of his 45 years in the printing industry, and an acknowledgement that while other kids got bedtime stories, I got the history of lithography..
Fathers often find ways of giving a part of themselves to their sons, and they do so in ways that can be baffling to the sons. Perhaps your father was doing that.
My dad was an engineer and a private pilot. He never told me a bedtime story, but he took my brother and me flying as often as he could. It was his way of showing his love.
Nice song, too.

Fantastically touching tribute - personal, tender, professional...
Less interestingly, this is probably my favourite of your songs (okay, apart from Calligraphy!!).

My take on Gumbo's Keep Your Eye On The Spot, one of many excellent tracks from his RPM2011 album 'Cat's Moustache'. It's something of a departure from the original, though I was trying to retain an element of the gospel so hopefully its soul…
RPM 2011 number 2. Inspired by an ex-friend of mine who had the most dazzling rose tinted glasses. Always used to envy the simplicity of his view and how nothing could ever get to him (everything gets to me).. since i knew him I know a lot of…
This song is sort of about making a clean break, killing off the lead character in your story and burying him along with all his sins before the inevitable happens, and the bad guy gets his. Initially came from a jam with my mate Ben Price who…
This is a song about finding momentary escape from the pain of loss.. and having it interrupted by the realisation that it's the anniversary of the day it all started;
Some days I get up
and I go to the park
and I sit in the dark
and I think…

With JS Tolar, as band Visions Of Nell.
My tribute to Anne Boleyn, the first queen to be publicly executed in England. I used some of the poetry she wrote during her imprisonment in the chorus. An innocent, incomparable woman.
With music written and performed by Soundsmith Kamachi.
It was the last day of RPM and he asked me to write a lullaby for a track called Cornucopia. Very much enjoyed how easily this one flowed. That's my mum, Bee Mathis, adding class to the…
Thanks for the comment on caligraphy butt.. as a friend of mine once put it 'its like cbeebies on acid'! This however is beautiful and utterly bewitching. A bit special that one.
Tempest Fero Lives again!
My first real band was called Tempest Fero. We shoulda rethought that name. Anyway, this was one of the first four or five songs we wrote. There should be keyboard, but I don't have the skill or the patience to…
A very Merry Christmas to you all ....Thanks for listening...i got me a cry baby she's still not tamed but a lot of fun so i had too try her out and this is the outcome.. hope you enjoy!!
This track dates back to 2012, when I was in the process of recording my 2nd album, "The Only Way to Build is to Tear Down," in a super run down shack, while seriously broke. On the other hand, that was the last album I really did multitracking…
New song. Wrote the guitar part first, lyrics came later. This is one of the first songs I've done more than one track on in quite a while, and also one that isn't dark (unusual for me). Anyway, enjoy!
just spent an absolutely lovely 15 or so minutes in the comfort of your songwriting. truly brilliant. in my humble opinion. especially liked lyrics of the last 2
fading slowly
i'll disappear, and you won't even notice
it's just a trick the light plays on your face
and erase, the frowns of worry
might be less and growing more less every day
hurry now, oh boy, you'd better hurry
now here, is where…
time goes by, we never notice til we die
this is the why, the how the where the goodbye
maybe the preacher told you right from wrong
maybe you think the wait is far too long
to worry your head with every little thing
cause life is just a dream…
t twenty, life was all planned out.
Did everything they said to do.
Stopped thinking for myself and turned my will over to you.
Ten years later, I was gone.
You'd stolen my identity.
I tried to pick the pieces up, but there was nothing left of…
Shit hot! Incredible. Vocalist's a real treat too, all fits together perfectly. New favourite band? Quite possibly. Certainly better than all the shit I've been downloading lately. Also, jealous.
I got myself a little bargin off ebay a Zoom GFX-707 £25 and have been playing around with the effects ....here's a tone i like so of course i tried to mould something to it ...i feel i've made a bit of a breakthrough with teaching myself the…
DJBride put this backer up on Songcrafters looking for some lyrics and i couldn't resist so here's my second Friday nights offering for you ears...the original instrumental can be found here http://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?topic=18439…
I was not happy with my first mix of this thing. I changed the drums on both songs and the bass on the first song and redid all the effects. It's a little better now. Maybe. Kind of.
I wrote this when I uploaded the first mix:
Two songs that…
