Good to get a discussion going now, even if a bit round the houses!! Glad it wasn’t just me re the Floyd thing on this track, and now reading other comments from your thread, I can agree some Tull influence too...a rather excellent combination! I was late to the Floyd party, to be fair, being a total Genesis nut since forever, but then when I was invited to join a PF tribute in 2008 for a few years, grew to love their music totally.....

Hi there...this is the only was I can see to thank you for your regular positive comments for my orchestrations and Soundscapes!! But can I also now say that I love the feel of this track...may I say a bit reminiscent of Pink Floyd?....especially the lead solo..

That shoe box from 1994 must literally be vibrating with energy.... Like someone up in outer space could see it's energy field from a million miles away. This one is gut wrenchingly beautiful. Amazing emotion.

It's in the key of 4th fret and was written just over a month later than the other two, on 19th March…

**All I Have To Do - A A J Russe**
There isn’t much time to get this out
You won’t hear me if I have to…
Ok, grabbed me right away with that unexpected chord shift in the intro. I love your songwriting, man. The variety, the sonic palettes, the lyrics, the playing, the inventiveness, all of it really; it's such a pleasure to sit, listen, and lose myself in the song.

And here we go - Edith FINALLY gets it...
Actually, she's been getting it ever since I wrote it on the 29th May. I thought it would take a week or so, but it proved to be more of a fight than I was expecting.
On…
Oh yeah...the slide just kicked in and the hair on the back of my neck stood up. Killer groove, the bass and drum lock up, along with the Rhodes...... Love the space in this mix too. Damn, Andrew, you are on fire. It's good to hear you making music again. Selfishly speaking, it's inspiring.

OK, let's delve once more into the magical shoebox of unused songs...
I've already recorded several that were written in 1994 (Sleeping with the Ghost, Elizabeth's Room, With Mum Again, If You Knew, A Hundred and…
Exhales...man. I'll just say this is really, really powerful. And tough to listen to since I think I know where this is from. On a production note, whatever mics you are alluding to where a good acquisition. I love how your acoustic has been sounding on these cuts this morning.

Now here's a bit of an oldie - the second song I ever wrote. In... 1978!
I think I played it once, or maybe twice, at school assemblies. My musical peers and colleagues back then dismissed it as corny/rancid pop music…
So come down, and fade away,
The lights are still hanging from last holidays.
And the place in the dark, we'd occupy,
Is leaving my heart, feeling nullified.
So slow down, and walk with me,
Dark empty lanes, under heavy leafless trees…
Wow, apparently I've listened to this before, but I don't remember... (many thanks to galinka's recent favourites for finding it again :) )
Good song and vocals and all... but on this listen, it's striking me that those guitars are amazing.
Every 3 years, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) asks teens from across the country to meet up in a city to worship, fellowship, learn, and serve. This year, it was New Orleans. 33000 youth gathered together to demonstrate God…
Superb - love the chorus.
I'm actually one of the ones who heard but decided not to listen. But I can hear that this song and performance express the message almost perfectly.
Beautiful song :)
I wrote this music and realised that what I had created sounded like Air on the G String (BWV 1068) by J S Bach. It's not finished (I will re-record it).
I hadn't read the about while I was listening, and I was thinking the title must be a pun...
Love it (the track and the title). Looking forward to hearing the finished version.
Wow.
I was listening to your stuff the other day. Completely unlike anything I'm exploring, but something was grabbing me.
Hearing this new one made me click "Follow" :)
This song's about why sometimes you have to live your life, even if other people don't like it. Yeah, and I like Shakespeare too.
LYRICS:
I don't know why you won't speak to me
I could use a little sympathy
I don't know why there must be…
So, I'll drink up, beautiful,
I'll leave bottles, up and down the coast,
When I get to that light house,
I'll burn it down, and laugh.
Skeletons rise up to meet me,
In a place where the waves touch the beach,
And hollowed bones, broken…
Dug up another old one. Still trying to some new songs sorted, can't seem to get into gear. Old age ???? Oh by the way, just a piece of fiction, me & the old gal is on 38yrs of marriage !!!! You less for murder !!!!!!!!!
Might be a piece a fiction, but I've got one of those pieces of paper somewhere ("it says right here we're not married anymore"), and this kind of sums up some of the emotions that such a piece of paper evokes... lol
Nice song :)
Woah Yeah :)
Love this.
On this one it sounds like you need to find a bassist who thinks/plays like you guys do... I'm too busy unfortunately... and I live too far away... (and I'm not good enough neither) lol
Backing track for Coz I love you by Slade, this was my first attempt at doing a cover version. It's a lot different from the original.
this is the new version with a few added instruments and the vocals ...
The Inappropriate Question
G C/Gbass
She said, “I can see that you’re hurting.
And I can see that you are wearing a ring.
Perhaps an inappropriate question,
but I’d like to ask you something.
Soon I will be a grand mother
I have a husband…
So, I'll drink up, beautiful,
I'll leave bottles, up and down the coast,
When I get to that light house,
I'll burn it down, and laugh.
Skeletons rise up to meet me,
In a place where the waves touch the beach,
And hollowed bones, broken…
Outside this motel room, there is a world gone man. Mortals eating the flesh off the face of other mortals. Mad shooters mass murdering strangers for no apparent reason. Well, baby, I say we just stay here, you and me, make love, and forget about…

Oh so descending front ending then ascend to a massive middle eight . Great forward motion . Cutting slicing lyrics. Does it for me Jethro
Absolutely top-drawer in terms of composition, performance and sonically 👏
Different and beautiful. I like the build and drop, high/low contrast in the song.
Just had my daily listen to this song ...love everything about it 😎
Love the slow pace of this piece, gives it a bit of a solemn vibe Very well written and performed Good one, Andrew! KC
Haunting ... and beautifully arranged. Definitely well described as “glass completely bluddy empty” though

Love the guitar on this :) They've certainly stood the test of time! x
Love that unexpected chord change in the middle eight - Great work!
I love that wooden acoustic sound. Nice little hook in there. It’s another winner Andrew.
This group of songs is just amazing. To think about you writing them in '94... amazing. Your guitar is just gorgeous on this one. Awesome all around.

This is great, simply great. I love how you are able to sing this so well, even with your tongue firmly planted in your cheek.

Yeah :)
Wow (big Slade fan here), this is REALLY interesting. I like it a lot. Can't wait to hear the vocals on it.
Brilliant. "How do we know that a promise is anything more than a wish..." Woo This lonely little song needs a lot more attention.
I think this is so good I can't figure out anything sensible to say. I LOVE this song and how you've recorded it.
Oh yeah... love it, my sentiments entirely :)
