I wrote this little ditty back in May, did an acoustic demo and then played it to one or two people. I always meant to do something a bit more, er, "expansive" with the thing... So I stuck it in the corner for a bit and forgot about it.
Been…
Finally, at last... I've got something finished...
Been working on this for a few weeks.
A bit of a rocker... (and an aging lecherous one at that)
I got it as close as I could and then mixed it loud... I've over-cooked it slightly - but…
Well, here we go then...

Oh you knew, didn't you, before I did?
How many times did you wonder whether I would dare?
Oh never mind...

New one from me. It's ended up as a bit of a "crying into yer beer at Bob's Country Bunker" sort of song lol...
I've been sat on these lyrics in some form or another for absolutely years. I first wrote them one very dark night a few years after…

Really like this vocal delivery also. And very clever lyrics considering the *actual* story!

This is a collaboration with a prolific chap called James Higgins (oldrottenhead on songcrafters.org), based on an instrumental of mine from a couple of years ago: http://alonetone.com/andyr/tracks/muletide
I was quietly minding my own business…
At last... I've managed to finish something.
This was written months ago. I was about to try recording it with one or two others when this year's decorating started. With various buggered fingers, back muscles, etc, etc, I wasn't actually able…
This is one of the many songs going round my head from when I was young. No idea whose version I heard and used to sing along to back then, but it was written by Larry Collins and Alex Harvey.
(EDIT: Done some research. It was Dottie West's…
This song has been sat on the marvellous mechanical mouse organ in the broom-cupboard for well over a year.
A few weeks ago I got a bit of a scare - the mouse organ nearly broke down (in the middle of sorting out Delta Dawn). While I was fixing…
Gene has done another splendid job with the music and i've had the easy job again.....A zep cover done in our own way from Zep iii....hope you enjoy....
YEARLONG VALENTINE – SKEEN 130214
Now the day’s away, and the wine is gone,
And you bury your head under mine,
I won’t make a peak,
Save infrequent yawns
And the sigh that says everything’s fine,
Cos I’m sure without need of assurance…
Had a little idea (not a drink) about an hour ago and it went straight to my i-phone! This is the first guitar / vox recording after 1 quick strum to get chords and key and stuff (oh, so technical I am) and it's 3rd fret capo (obviously) with…
First of all guys, sorry haven't been about for weeks. Been down with Flu & this & that, got to say this song didn't do the throat much good. So many takes, as I coughed up my lungs half way through !!!!! Anyway, an old rant I wrote 6…

Straight cover, from a backing track, just because I had the urge and I don't think the neighbours would appreciate me thrashing the guitar so late!
The backing track pretty much sums up where my head was at when I recorded it :)
This is a fairly simple guitar part I came up with a couple days ago and my friend talked me into recording it. It needs words- perhaps that will come later.

Melodic idea by Tiggy Acworth 23rd November 2012.
Made reality and added to quite superbly by David Bevan in February 2013. A perfect example of a living, breathing SKEEN. Music to live by?
Most definitely a click free recording…
A little tune to help me get through the winter ... used my 63 Fender Jazzmaster for the guitar tracks. This guitar has been with me through thick and thin and just gets better with age.

Greg let me have another go at one of his songs and I the wrote the words and music for a bridge
so that way he has to pay me some royalties when he sells a million !!! lol thanks Greg for your inspiration and great music!!
lots of different things I tried in this one, mostly in structure and vox, as well as harmony and texture. I guess it is a progressive type song with some gloom.
the intro is a short bass thing with effects called nectar, its like 25 sec.s…

What I didn't realise was that I was recording it…
It's three mics. A Rode NT1000 large condensor for the vocal. The guitar had two SM57s on it, one at the 12th fret, one just below the bridge, panned hard left and right.
If I had more condensors I'd use them on the guitar - when I track things separately I always use the Rode on an acoustic (unless it's a resonator, that pushes a condensor too hard) - using the 57s like this seems to produce are fair amount of hiss!
Comments on Andrew Russe's stuff
Typical Andy R gem , a great listen
This is great. I added it to my collection. Always impressed with your music.
Another great number! Love that wah guitar and your vocals are superb :-) Great production.

Friday Feeling on a Wednesday Nite: Rock poetry
ack with a vengance! Has the AC/DC vibe and a bit of the Bon Scott in the vox. Nice gritty guitar riff and solo. Bad Ass tune.
Back for another listen,great stuff!!!
*Bullseye* . . . ! You hit the spot Andrew!

Ooo yeah,great sound,rocking!!!
Rockin' A....... :)

Nice one - I like the guitars, and your voice is great. Rockin!

Nice to hear a new one from you. Cool picking on that tuning - and a gorgeous guitar sound.
Cool version
Love it.
Like it. And the key of 3rd fret - always a goodie.
Oh yeah. Nice one. Love how this one thumps along, excellent groove.
Gorgeous intro - gorgeous... and... a wonderful song to follow. Wonderful, wonderful. PLEEZE someone fix the fave button
Aww, fabulous. Where's the fave button when it's not working? (I clicked it anyway...)
Woof - some cool playing right here.
Oh yeah. Nice one guys.
I was thinking that (intense backing track) - I had to listen twice to "block" that out and listen to you! Ace vox.
Tasty. It works like this - it's a good listen as it is - but I'd like to hear what vocals you come up with.
Well, my right foot moved a fair bit... does that count as doing the Tiggy jig? Nice one.
Woo yeah, like it.
I'd fave it, but the button doesn't seem to work for me anymore...
Love this.
This hits the spot. I prefer brandy meself (and vodka martini) but this makes me wonder. Love the choruses.
Wow! Epic stuff.
Oh yeah, this is a tasty one alright.
Haunting. Love the woodwind (and horns?) that come to the fore later.
