just finished this one, represents a slightly new direction i am taking i think.
i am particuarly proud of the polyrhythmic sound i achieved. i was worried it mite become too cluttered (at the beginning) but i think i achieved clarity.
Just a basic dance track because its just fun to bounce around sometimes. Also another excuse to use a growly bass sound... a "60 Hz Hum Bass" soundfont I had clearly neglected for too long.
Another Sunday cover, this time putting an acoustic spin on one of my favorite tunes from RPM2010 - Communist Party by the great Sha-Pink. This song marks the first time I've ever used live percussion.
Ever since i heard Cave Street's Creator Protector Destroyer (from their 2010 RPM album) run from that song back into the opening didj of Onion Bell (the first track) i wanted to put the lyrics to that pulsing energy, and today i had time to give…
I was collecting 4th of July samples and recorded a jewel. By chance, I recorded my 4 year old girl, and you can hear her thought process...wondering how the fireworks were so high in the air - perhaps the fireworks were dropping from the sky…
This song was inspired by the heavy rains of the past two days, and my wife and I biding our time waiting for them to subside a bit so we could leave the house. The guitar is my old Alvarez classical with a microphone, then run through my RP350…
We all live on one planet, and on this planet we ARE the indigenous peoples. The rest is just intellectual self petting if you know what I mean. When I'm feeling frustrated with the human race, I return to the roots. I read once in a novel on…

I came up with the initial rhythmic riff on my bass, then looped it to create the basis for this track. Then, I layered another "lead" bass track on top of that, added some percussion, and finally topped it off with an electric piano-ish sound…
One of a series of songs based on stories written as random memories by a character born around 1870 and his escape from poverty and hardship.
This song is from the time he left his roots to seek out a better future, but at this period this…
We all know someone like this. Sometimes I'm like this. Anyway, recorded using my Epiphone semi-hollowbody. I love the gtr sound on this one. Again, it's older, so the sonic quality isn't anywhere near what I do now.
Comments on kavin.'s stuff
Always envy those guitarists for what they can do by simply retuning some strings :-)
beautiful.
i'm really feeling this one... and wishing i could get my hands on a resophonic guitar.
This takes me on a musical cruise. I love the rolling groove.
cooltunings
Big difference from 4x11. I guess it's the Taylor eh? Nice sounding guitar.
Jammin'
Dig it mate very cool indeed.

Sweet sounds from Planet Texas, nice!

Agree with Norm - very cool!
Very enjoyable. Thanks!
11 string guitar? is that a 12 string with one missing? Nice piece (and novel tuning, well novel to me anyway)
sometimes less is better...sweet texture
i love how loose this one feels
a touch of 'factory girl' just a touch.
Very nice. I am liking your style as of late. The loop acoustic flow is working for sure man. Got me hooked.

This is reaslly good, esp. like the detuned gtr (?) in the middle.
Nice guitar work on this one.
Let's party!
Great stuff, Rick. I like very much the almost classical/rock approach here.
Really? ok
Apparently the theme for RPM10 was PARTY! Lots of party themed songs. Good cover, 17.
Helluva groove!
Just listened to both versions back to back, different treatments of the same theme. Great!
This is very cool. Well done!
Excellente! What a menagerie of sound!
Very nice indeed. May take you up on that offer.
The creative impulse animates whatever instrument is placed at its disposal.
Voices..from the Dreamtime?
Very cool. Like this lots.
The length for this showed 1:53 but it went on for 3 minutes! Not complaining, just wondering how you can manipulate the fourth dimension like that?
The ghost of Leonard Cohen? Oh he's still around.
faster faster! And the backwards guitar keeps up.
The blues lilt in your voice and tapping the strings is something new.
Like this 'un. Very Tragically Hip if you don't mind the comparison.
@kirklynch CGDGBD I think....could be wrong but that's close. Need to revisit it and learn it!
