A not very cheerful Christmas song I wrote for the RPM Holiday Challenge. Based on the classic Arthur C. Clarke science fiction story "The Star". http://faculty.winthrop.edu/kosterj/engl510/star.htm

Last demo for Magic Mike today ... LOL
This is actually a song written by Mike, and I have offered a bit of a twist to it.

All first take improvisations. 8 tracks of madness for your enjoyment. Ear goggles will put you inside this piece. Not recommended for the faint of heart!
Recorded between 9AM - 7PM on the 26th of February.
Featuring Mark Hubbard & Duma, on didj & percussion respectively, this one begins as the most traditionally structured piece on the album. But don't get used to it, it doesn't last long... just enough to ease you into the formlessness…
Naively conceived, written and published in February 2012 for "Contemporary Chamber Music" (vol.1), an RPM12 album.
The titles of the pieces in album are follow each other in a certain order - see album description.

"DES, which was once prescribed to prevent miscarriages, caused obesity, rare vaginal tumors, infertility, and testicular growths among those exposed in utero." http://www.motherjones.com/environment…
my rpm #5,, it will eventually become a part om my themed cd "the dark doll house" a somewhat sad place where memories of childhoods past echo through empty rooms,, the two other pieces thus far in this theme are the 3 mov of my piano sonata…
One more instrumental before I move on to the vocals...
I came up with this riff one hazy night when I was 19. I'm in my 30s now, and rather more sober, but I still like playing this. It felt good to finally flesh it out.
Comments on kavin.'s stuff
Lovely stuff Kavin! The reversed bit at the end is really effective

The guitar drifts away as if in a dream the ship sails into a sunset.
You brought the drone!
Ditch era Neil, even down to the sometimes off key guitar solo. Like much!
Great album. Very cohesive, good performances and production. I'll be returning to often I'm sure.
Great album and esp. like the pedal steel on this one!
Very Tao te Ching Michael,in surrendering you win the struggle.
8 minutes in and digging this musical stream of consciousness! Glad you persevered!

Are you really who you think you are? What is "reality"? Love me some PDK, and this is a great soundtrack.
Wistful. Plaintive. Looking through my own empty rooms.
Played like a real Texas guitar slinger!
