Another cut from the 1988 cassette tape of a live performance by Scartaglen on the NPR show Mountain stage. This time some tunes from County Kerry.

A bit of improv done yesterday with my newly refurbished fretless guitar. Finally got the midi pickup to track almost right! Part of the sounds were gotten by rubbing a teaspoon on the strings.

Well, I like it. Almost a kichey throwback to hearts of space type cascading ambient, which no one really does anymore. Has a kind of slightly on edge shrill I find interesting.

Solo acoustic guitar recorded January 2nd 2009. Hope to do a longer more developed version at some point ,but for now just a short version to learn more about using new DAW software.

Several years ago I had a short lived duo with an oboe and English horn player named Nat. This is a demo from that period. It's an old old chord progression of mine that never really had a melody and Nat improvised this melody in the studio to…

Maybe I missed a career scoring for no budget spaghetti westerns, because this is what this reminds me of. Done live a couple weeks ago with the Taylor and a floor full of toys and loopers.
Maybe a career, or a time...
"Two hundred thousand dollars is a lot of money. We're going to have to earn it." (as Blondie write it on a rock in the middle of the graveyard and as well as tells it to Tuco and Angel Eyes)
My opus. By far the longest song I've ever recorded. I tried to make it shorter, but it just didn't work. Sorry. :)
"The Water-Carver" uses a sample from Stereolab's "Changer." (Gane/Sadier)
I imagine this music playing in a bar sometime in the future, probably in the background while cybernetic bar patrons interface with one another in full view of the world's sensor network.
Hurray patches?
The melody was the last thing that was written for this.
The piano is a placeholder for whenever I get around to actually writing full lyrics. (I have a few lines written down, but I’m not sure if that’s the direction I want…
Played all at once through a little plastic hole (Micro BR), so I know it needs to be redone. I've been down with swine fever for the past few days and have barely been able to hang onto a guitar, so this ought to be a crowd pleaser :) A song…
this is a traditional blues tune originally recorded 77 years ago by the legendary robert johnson . since then everyone from the stones to clapton have had a go at it ,i have tried to bring it back to it's starting point IE: a man , an old cheap…
This songs reminds me that this is the moment i have. No longer looking for the dawn for the dawn is here.
This is the moment
this is the moment
that i've been waiting for
I've been waiting for
the dawn and the dawn is coming soon
"Farmer's Blow" is redneck rap. Oh yeah, I went there.

If you're on the run
And your nose has gotta go
Don't grab a tissue
Do the farmer's blow
Just tilt your head
To the side
Then block one nostril
And let it ride
You may think
That…
My first upload for the 2010 RPM Challenge! I wanted to make a mean-sounding, minimal, instrumental groove track, and this is what I came up with. I tried a bunch of different bass lines, but they all made it sound too busy.

I really like this -- especially the vocal-like sounds, were they synth or sampled? Did you do it all with your MIDI guitar controller?

Most excellent. Thats an improv.
Fantastic playing! You've captured the feel of winter day really well on this.
Ethereal sounds-cape!! Fine piece of music!
I like the synths. Really starts it out with a certain tone.
a lot of yearning in that melody, incredible stuff!
still love this, so cool!
Brillant work Kirk. Glad to see some new ones from you! :)
really nice,, a very full/orchestral sound,, lots of nice space within these notes, the stretched quality of the fretless is really nice
Kirk, first of all, thank you for your kind words. They mean the world to us. As for this track, it is astoundingly beautiful!!! w;-)

Dreamy. Orchestral, and foreboding. More of that Kirk!

Inventive and magnificently chilling!
Menacing!
