this doesn't fit with my rpm project AT ALL so i may not use it but i like the way it came out. I recorded the music for Bethan Mathis' RPM project but she didn't have time to use it (her album is…

Sister Savage and Mr Sandbags collaborated on the original of this wonderful heartbreaker of a song. I've been playing it on the guitar the last few days and it always seemed to come out with a grittier tone, so i asked…

RPM 2011 - my first track recorded and the opening track for the CD
A kind of Old Time gospel number, which, if you listen to those pre-war guitar playing preachers, are virtually indistinguishable from blues. Except for the lyrics…

Wow, this is stunning. Beautiful melancholy. Such a gentle, passionate feel on the mandolin, guitar and your vocal is breathtaking. Wow again. Love this.
I'm finally happy with this track - v1 was too much of a nothing song and it's been bugging me all the way to the last night of the challenge.
1 more to mix

Day 28
Anyone else still writing songs?
this is the result of trying to listen to too many mixes in one day. Sometimes it's just easier to record something else.
Hi Stu, what a fantasic RPM. Every track a gem and unnervingly authentic. Feel like I've been listening to a Smithsonian archive release. Glad you used One Thing, it's achingly beautiful. Standout for me is Take Yourself to Bed. Even gives Ralph Stanley a run for his money. And Chicken! cracks me up. Brilliant.

A grief song. You know this place. If you don't then move on while you still can. Seriously. Don't click ..
This is a tidied up version, I managed to get rid of some of th noise and rebalance the vocals 18/3/09
one of those 'it was written even before i started' songs that just rolls out like magic
i tried to keep it simple so as not to destroy the vibe
first finished (if unmixed) track for RPM 2010
Anyone read Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr - my daughter lent it to me - teenage Faery novel about addiction - pretty creepy at times.
This is the one act musical version.
I wanted a 'deranged in our neighbourhood' kind of feel to it.
this is brilliant mate. love the chorus.. sounds like some band i been listening to what i forgot the name of. edward sharpe and something or other. anyway.. hats off. (another) great track (that i missed)
this is one i have to stop tweaking - six versions and i still don't get what i hear in my head

Reg has left re-hab but now he has to fill those sober hours with something, so he has taken to people watching, but like everything in his life he has become addicted to it, listening in on there private conversation as he follows them, watching…
Well it had to happen sometime, he couldn't go on living the way he was, even with those full throttle hands there was no excuse, he was guilty....... guilty as charged........RPM2011
Sloane did me a favor & played an electric guitar part on this one. I had hoped to work with her more on this project, but she wound up leaving town to help take care for a recovering family member.

Goodbye Blue Monday
-
Goodbye blue Monday
There's nothing else to say
We always knew
we would part this way
Time comes to say goodbye
To pause perhaps and wonder why
Why we always had to be
So blue, so blue
I can see that life…
This song was born on the 18th of Feb. 2011. It was the last piece I wrote/recorded for the challenge. It was a very sad day for me, almost as if all my usual winter sadness was concentrated and crammed into one day. The process of writing and…

New one from me. It's ended up as a bit of a "crying into yer beer at Bob's Country Bunker" sort of song lol...

Great cover, Stu. Love the multitracked vocals.
I wonder if I'll ever get over the thrill of hearing you sing my lyrics! Huge thanks, Gumbo.
shades of Beck here....blissfully sad!

There's such subtle slow build to this. Great track.
Yep it's still beautiful. I just had time to hear it in the album setting. This has been a great half hour ..
What a beautiful song. Great vocal, Mr Street.
