New original from me, hot off the old wotsit.
When it was half written yesterday, I was considering binning it as a throwaway exercise - I do that quite often. But I played the songwriting demo to someone else and, er, apparently I should finish…
This is an oldie. Recorded in 2005. It was the first recording I finished on a DAW, but I'd played it a lot in the last band I was in (around the turn of the century). I think it was written in the mid 90s. It's about one of the casualties of…
Holy shit....another epic cut! What you couldnt extend it another 4 seconds to make it a full 6min? This is excellent work , Quadrophenia meets the boys of Lizzy. Your a marauder!
Rock instrumental. Recorded Christmas 2008.
I'd struggled with a DAW. I'd stopped recording. And then my lovely wife got me a Boss MBR for Christmas. I thought this little thing the size of a fag-packet would be a nice "scratch-pad" songwriting…
A cover of Larry Wallis's fine ditty (it's always been one of my favourite Dr Feelgood songs).
This was my second recording with my Boss MBR, recorded early 2009. It confirmed for me that I was a "standalone recorder" kind of guy, and there was…
I missed this one....Sweet playin Andrew. I love the sound of those double tracked rythym gtr....and the verb on the lead is perfect as well as tge playing.
I can't quite believe that I'm posting this, or that I've even recorded it. But I've played it like this sat on the sofa in the living room for many years, and I needed something to check out how to record a live "one vocal and one guitar" song…

A song about my wife. Recorded 2005.
I'd just taught myself how to play piano (badly).
I'd always wanted to be Freddie Mercury when I was younger... still got a bit of a ways to go.

**Now It's Done - A A J Russe**
I said it…
A cover of Justin Currie's Sleep Instead of Teardrops. Recorded 2010.
It has always been one of my favourite Del Amitri songs. I was strumming away at it one day and my missus said I should record it...
This is a remix of this song.
It was recorded in 2010, and I was in a hurry to post it elsewhere because I'm so fond of the song itself. But I've always hated the old mix - I lost the essence of the guitars and choirs during mastering because…

Big time "like". Such an expanse of history/experience/pathos captured in so few words.
I dealt with this on a much smaller scale in a song I called THE INAPPROPRIATE QUESTION.

Electric blues. Recorded 2007. I was learning how to use my DAW and trying to figure out how a one-man-band could get to sound like a bunch of old bluesers in a sweaty bar...

One of my two contributions to a "Beatlesfest" we had over on songcrafters.org a few months back.
I still can't believe I covered this... having done it though, it feels like nothing is sacred. And, more worryingly, I feel I might possibly…
This is a collaboration with a prolific chap called James Higgins (oldrottenhead on songcrafters.org), based on an instrumental of mine from a couple of years ago: http://alonetone.com/andyr/tracks/muletide
I was quietly minding my own business…

The old tin geetar...
Did this one sometime in 2009 on a Boss MBR. I'd recently joined what became Songcrafters.org and PJ (Wiley) posted a bass/drum track for us ubiquitous blues guitarists to solo over.
I decided to go a different route…
Like the bruthas on the Southside of Chi town would say, "that white boys got some stank on him" Damn that some low down blues! We need to collab on a blues. I am convinced of this.
leaving the island
Costello fingered his bow
looking out his villa window
grey morning sky
giving way...clouds
scattered by the sun
to fishing boats painted on
far off horizons
a melody he offers
in toast of their run
of their run
his boats…
Wow, you've got something going here...
At first the "lo-fi" recording made me think I'd probably switch it off. But the performance and song transcends it completely. This is superb.
Over the weekend Reg had gone back to his home town where he come from and met up with a few of his friends from whey back when. He found that he seemed like stranger. He was sitting telling Elvis about his weekend. Elvis felt sorry for Reg because…

Have to find out some more about my organ. So I gave it a try once more. And ofcourse had to play with the video of the organ and me playing on it.
I hope you like it.
Also I love to play…
Well, this might have been a beautiful start to the day for Leo... but for me it's been a pretty good start to the early evening after a hard day at work!
It's uplifting and relaxing at the same time - it was perfect to shake off the burdens I'd brought home... they seem to be gone now :)
2 Januari 2010.
I love animals and so I made this video for my friends at CDMagz, and later also posted the video myself at my Twirretwarre channel. I hope you enjoy the music
and the birds in our garden!
I improvised with Korg I3 and improvised…
Your stuff is completely unlike what I've been listening to recently, so it's a bit of a culture shock!
But a few tracks in and it's really relaxing me. Love this one :)
Our lovely cat Minimini is such a nice cat. She loved to go outside with me in the snow. And so I had to make some music and video with her.
This was in January 2010
Reg is trying to find escape from all the bad news surrounding him, his age, his life, the world as a whole, He needs to escape he can not do anything to help the suffering people of the world apart from maybe send money, he can't change this…
This one started as a the title line while driving in my car. All I had was the line and it's melody. I built the song around that about 6 months later. The lyrics are self explanatory.
This one had better not be cr@p now lol...
And it's not... it's tingle-down-the-spine music.
A perfect finish to an utterly stunning album. Well done, very well done indeed.
This song started as the riff on my Strat while fooling around with some FX. I knew it needed to be a big dance number, and then realized there is a great story about the power of music and dance, which I hid in the lyrics. See if you can figure…
It's about a few folks, some known, some known to me. I liked the chunkiness of the chord that starts it, but wanted to do something a little more 'spacey' than a pure rock number. It's all true too.
A little fun riff that came from noodling on my Epi whilst watching the idiot box one night. It's kind of written for a friend who is a little lost in a self-imposed exile from life.

This went by while I was musing on the earlier tracks...
Now I'm listening to it again. Another goodie. Stunning vox, and I'm liking the slide. The middle section is genius.
A brief glimpse, but that's all. Inspired by last April. It's for everyone, but no one in particular. Yes, this one gives more than a passing nod to Ham and Evans. Thanks gents!
Top Of The Pops circa 1972! Remember when all those bands in the early 70's where adding synth to every song but the lyrics meant something (sometimes)? Pure excitement, pure bubblegum, pure fun. Well, this is my offering and thanks to all of…
I've run out of words... I've broken me "Favourite" button...
And your rhythm guitar playing... wow... you've got the same thing going that Malcolm Young has.
Good grief... I'm only three songs into this album... this is just... just... fabulous.
Yep, that reverb is the one it needed.
Like DB sez, yes, ELO. But there's Mott The Hoople, etc, as well... much else... all that 70s goodness... and an excellent song as well.
Comments on Andrew Russe's stuff
Cool tune.
Holy shit....another epic cut! What you couldnt extend it another 4 seconds to make it a full 6min? This is excellent work , Quadrophenia meets the boys of Lizzy. Your a marauder!
Oh yeah....guitar players heaven right here...nicely done harmonies.
I missed this one....Sweet playin Andrew. I love the sound of those double tracked rythym gtr....and the verb on the lead is perfect as well as tge playing.
Damn....thats a gem.
Back for another listen to this beauty to end the night.....Thanks
Beautiful. A real love song right here.
Del Amitri.... I only know their one big hit, I presume, here in America. But you may have turned me onto their music a bit more.
Fantastic and inspired.

wow........ very well done.. pardon but i have to ask about the story,, is feels so old english in nature,,, what is the background?? most well done!!
This is incredibly fine. The mix is ridiculously great - haunting and fabulous!
Fun lil blues tune....has a Brian Setzer vibe without the rockabilly hooha.
Oh yes. Very nice ballad. Fave!
Great mix mate top track.
Nice rendition here. Curries music was a big influence this past year for me. I am glad someone else enjoys it also.
Always killer vocals.
Echoes of Thin Lizzy here. Nice bite on the guitars.
Great storytelling Andrew. Well worth many listens.

I found myself leaning into my laptop screen to try to get closer to the performance! lol Excellent, excellent. I love your voice and delivery.

I love this. A fabulous piece of music.
Wonderful, utterly wonderful. And I didn't believe it when I heard that Elvis was your basement
Spaghetti Metal - lol Whatever it is, I likes this one. Great groove pushing it onwards.

This is a stunner. Had to come back and listen twice. So well put together... unbelievably good listening.
Brilliant.
Yep, always listen to what the song says :-) Another superb one. On certain days, this would be my favourite of the album so far.
