Late December

The contrast of this aging “summer boy” and his outdoors-loving daughter who is more than happy to run out into the cold.

Late December

Late December
The nights get so long
Turning embers
In the dark before dawn

Late December
For a summer boy
Feels so wrong
Can’t remember
That summer noise
Where has the time gone

In the gray light, your tired eyes
Bring the daylight to my winter skies
What you say might remind me time flies

Deeper water
Where I tend to go
Gentle daughter
Covered in snow

In the gray light, your tired eyes
Bring the daylight to my winter skies
What you say might remind me time flies

Left to my own devices
I’d get so old
You don’t think twice as
You run out into the cold

Does the great bear
In the night sky
Know to play where
You’ll be running by

In the gray light, your tired eyes
Bring the daylight to my winter skies
What you say might remind me time flies

http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae64/mtcband/Mobile%20Uploads/th_AWARD.jpg Thank you so much M.T.C. Music award committee for recognizing such a relatively simple acoustic track from such a relatively simple person... (puts hand over mic to ask presenter, "Are you sure I really won this... Did you read the wrong name?")... I'd like to thank my new laptop for not crashing during the 2011 RPM process, and not developing an editing mind of it's own as the last one had. I'd also like to thank time, seeing as how I needed so friggin' much of it to get the fingerpicked portions of this song eventually done right. A big thank you to the inspiration for the songs, my always-ready-to-go-no-matter-how-absurdly-cold-it-is daughters. And a special thank you to my beautiful (and extremely tolerant) wife Kimberly for taking these same terrific daughters off my hands during my February vacation (sorry, Florida, for the pink invasion). Where's the after party!

Finally got this song balanced properly (after so many weeks of listening and editing, listening and editing). It somehow seems so long ago that we were all covered in snow now that winter has finally relented.

Good start to the album--slow and nice. I like the arpeggio parts and the way they melt into the nice rhythmic sounds of your chords--great introduction to the song. The timing is right-on. Again the imagery is wonderful. I could feel the late December. Good work!
