I’m very pleased with how the lead guitar break came out on this Political Folk song. The rocket being launched at the song’s intro is Apollo 11, carrying Neil Armstrong and company to Luna.
GOING TO TAKE A LOT
I’ve been watching for some…
A Sea Shanty with a bit of Psychedelic seasoning. Guest artist Starry Nightmoth performs the “harmonica” on a Yamaha KB as the song fades out.

Thirty-seven sails be a full rigged ship

This is really nice! I'm not familiar with your music, Gene, so do you write lyrics and music? Are you a one-man-band? This is the first song I've heard, it sounds a lot like Gentle Giant. Beautiful! Thank you
One of my personal favorite recordings from the 52 song MYTHOPOETICA demo collection, even though there’s a sound quality issue (the bass had a bit of a buzz). This was my first time using a wammy bar – I liked it!

This is the bonus track for "The Best of GEM" playlist.
APATHY AND GREED
Apathy and greed is in the human seed
"I need more, to Hell with you" we say so well
How we live and play to get us through the day
Til we hear the bell that summons…

One of my better Psych Folk recordings. Intro voice and keyboards by Starry Nightmoth. BG rhythm/drums generated using a Yamaha E313 KB. Lyrics, music and all other instruments and vocals are my fault.

Unconnected, re: noise reduction on I Lose Control v.2- if you want to, go ahead! I'd like to see what you're able to do. You can email it back to me at songsforthebroken@yahoo.com, and I will put it up and credit you. If you get any ideas while doing that and want to overdub something, feel free to do that as well! Thanks again for listening!

Have a problem with TV evangelists? You won’t have a problem with this number! This Psych Folk tune features Starry Nightmoth on church organ. The rhythm/drum track was generated using a Yamaha E313 KB, the rest is my fault.

Since you showed interest in my songs, I thought I'd check yours out too. But by god, this is impressive! Reminds me of 'Treasure Island' - one of my most favourite books of all time. Thank you for creating this. I love, love, love this.
2112 part VI: Soliloquy
The protagonist returns to the cave and broods for "days". He imagines "what my life might be in a world like I have seen", and now considers life under the Federation "cold and empty", with his spirits "low in the depths of despair". He resolves that, in order to "pass into the world of my dream, and know peace at last", he must take his own life— his narrative ending as "my life blood spills over."
One of the most famous soliloquies in literature is Hamlet's where he contemplates suicide, saying "To sleep, perchance to dream". The title of the song movement indicates a similar struggle where the protagonist chooses the liberation of spirit "that with my death I may pass into the world of my dreams, and know peace at last".
Starry Nightmoth and I (Gene Eric Mann) labored a few days on this tricky number. We gave it our best shot, but mucho kudos to Del Shannon's keyboardist -- his break rift was amazing! We settled for sort of faking our way through, which was…
BTW, the Del Shannon version is in A minor/A -- we transposed our version to E minor/E simply because I can't "wa wa wa wa wonder" and "wai wai wai wia why" as high as teenage Del anymore.
Boston, Massachusetts is not just a college town. It's THE college town. I mean it. Seriously. There is a major university in just about every neighborhood, and there are institutions of higher learning on nearly every street corner. Add…
This is my arrangement of the classic organ piece attributed to Bach, for two pianos. It was done entirely by ear, so I changed many chords. It's part of my album, Analytic Continuation.

It was about time I got on with musical expression. This song is about our interconnectedness. Our identity. Serious mystic stuff eh? Yeah - wait until you hear it - haha.

So 50/90 is an unnatural forcing of a crap ton of songs in a relatively short period of time. We're half way though and I've learned one thing. I've learned how easy it is to repeat something you've already done. This one sounds a LOT like…
I will have to disagree with the commenter below me -- I dig the vocals as they are in this one. Choice lead break, dude! Yeah, I'm into this, and appreciate the mix down and mastering job as is -- Rock on!
Slick and cool, gorgeous and haunting -- an excellent composition. Colorful (many shades of blue), bittersweet, interesting texture. An all around fabulous job -- Rock on!
Gene Eric Mann was kind enough to do noise removal for me. The hiss is all gone, which is awesome! The resulting track has an interesting ethereal quality. This might end up being rerecorded at some point, but this is an amazing improvement!
Re-check your e-mail -- there's yet another mix down of this song, with extra rhythm guitar, lead, bass, and BG vocals. I had fun adding myself to your very cool song. You ROCK. Rock on!
This is the rerecording of "I Lose Control." The first recording was using my computer's internal mic, just to get it down. I didn't want to wait until I got home, so I got a cheap $10 mic at a pawn shop with an adapter and ran it straight in…

I've downloaded the file and have already removed the floor noise -- no problem. But I also discovered what is called "over peaking" in the file, and I'll fix that as well. I also noted that your file is mono, rather than in stereo. I'm going to fix that too, plus add some reverb. I'll send you the results shortly and I may also take you up on the invite to add tracks to a 2nd mix down of the file. Meanwhile, Keep on Rockin' in the Free World.

Enjoyed it. Nice mixing and mastering job. Good songwriting. Rock on!
Woks for me. A fine compilation, very intriguing.
I really got into this. You've strung together some great sounds and mixed and mastered them quite professionally -- great job.
Nice... and somewhat eerie-ish in places! A good compilation of sound. I got into it.
