Lyrics:
Skip ahead to her in pants,
watch her dance in the living room
in front of all the other dinner guests.
She thumbs her nose at simulacra,
but someone must play Cleopatra
in the PTA's yearly drama fest.
Her husband broke his body…
An intrumental Track I put together when Thinking about my family.
One Guitar represents my son, one my wife and one me......
Two Versions with Vox (Jim Higgins and Geir Alfsen) are also in existance.. not sure how to link to this site…
one of those 'it was written even before i started' songs that just rolls out like magic
i tried to keep it simple so as not to destroy the vibe
first finished (if unmixed) track for RPM 2010
My opus. By far the longest song I've ever recorded. I tried to make it shorter, but it just didn't work. Sorry. :)
"The Water-Carver" uses a sample from Stereolab's "Changer." (Gane/Sadier)
Ziggy Stardust era Bowie would be good indeed. Now that you said that I can't get the image of what the song would sound like out of my head (quite nice, quite nice...)
An older song that was originally inspired by Prefab Sprout's "Goodbye Lucille #1 (aka 'Johnny Johnny')" but has morphed into it's current state that's more influenced by Suicide and House of Love.
And YOU'RE BACK! This is so great: I love the pace of the build throughout, the lingering of the noise in the end fade. You had my favorite track of RPM 2009, and so far the favorite of 2010 (not that it's a contest).
another one i always play on the guitar, inspired by Nick Drake's stuff; half way through this song goes into unknown guitar improvisational territory, where i just played over my own stuff after looping it
02 – Falling Down Again. Written 17th/18th Feb. Recorded 17th/18th/19th Feb.
A slightly schizophrenic pop song, with a vocal section that also betrays me wanting to be a Beach Boy. Worryingly there is actually a red sticky trickle that seeps…
01 – My Prayer. Written and recorded 16th Feb.
Paying homage to ‘Our Prayer’, the opening of SMiLE – the Beach Boy’s album that never was. An extended version of this song appears on ‘28 seconds later’, an album on which each song is exactly…
I really enjoy your entire album. Has the nice feeling of a great band from the seventies (I mean that in the best possible way, and I assume it's also what you're going for) that I'm discovering for the first time.
Very nice, McCartney-esque tune and harmonies. Whoa, the near-wails at the minute mark are beautiful.
I'm a sucker for songs that morph into completely different songs/styles, so I was smiling at your lovely use of that idea, taking it further to being a completely different band reference. Great work.
I love it.
nearly there!! running out of time and could i get this recorded to a click??! Hell no, so i did it live and it shows. ah well, it has a certain charm!

Beautiful playing, beautiful piece. (Also, thanks for all your kind words!)
Beautiful! I love the subtle, understated quality of the arrangement and recording. Unmixed? Sounds pretty close to me.
Love it.

Thanks for your way too kind comment! You guys have some smashing lyrics and a really nice intimate sound. I'm a fan.
Great job overall on the entire album. I really really love your sound.
great.
Seriously, great work all around. Can't believe that's the work of one month.
Yes, it's a Beach Boys jam, but it's a damn good one. You have a hit here, a beautiful hit.
Flawless opening track.

Really love this one. The "strings" coming in is a great moment. The repeated organ arpeggiated line at the end is also totally beautiful.
I love your singing style. Nicely understated, and you match your guitar to it wonderfully.
Beautiful song. Lovely, lovely harmonies.
Beautiful. I love the "future...future...FUTURE...future" etc. Nice subtle wit, and great instrumentation.
You did a wonderful job with the album. It works as a whole so well. I love how several of the tracks find a hidden melody and riff on it.
Amazing track. I love when the low end takes over about halfway in, then a bit later, the almost wahwah/trombone sounds. So great.
Charm is right. This is remarkably warm and personal sounding. I quite like it!
