DREAMS OF THE OCEAN

Your kids’ll be waking up in the morning
Just a couple of hours after mine have gone to bed
I’ve got the coffee warming
While dreams of the ocean are in your daughters’ heads
I taught them all ‘bout it late last evening
How the darkest of our night is the early of your day
My kids will soon be waking out of dreaming
Only one turn of the Atlantic’s tide away

I find myself thinking
Will they meet each other somewhere down the line
I hope with this gentle song we’re singing
They know you love them like I love mine

Do they have the same dreams for the short time each night
Between our sundown and your morning’s first light
Do their hopes run down to the water on our side
And wash up on our shores with the next tide

Tuck them safe in bed this evening
Give them hugs from my little girls
Maybe yours will soon be dreaming
About mine part way ’round the world

I find myself thinking
Will they meet each other somewhere down the line
I’d hope with this gentle song we’re singing
They know you love them like I love mine

Do they have the same dreams for the short time each night
Between your sundown and our morning’s first light
Do their hopes run down to the water on your side
And wash up on your shores with the next tide

Get them up the next morning (tuck them in this evening)
After mine have gone to bed (and hug your little girls)
Dreams of the ocean (they’ll soon be dreaming)
Dancing in their heads (part way round the world)

Get them up the next morning (tuck them in this evening)
After mine have gone to bed (and hug your little girls)
Dreams of the ocean (they’ll soon be dreaming)
Dancing in their heads (part way round the world)

Just caught this off your acoustic compilation album, Sis - Fabulous tune! The vocals are absolute money - I got a chuckle from your denial of reverb comment, but they truly sound perfect this way. Awsome songwriting, awesome tune - Love it!

Very nice. Loved the interplay between you both and the time zone difference lyrics, the parent/children aspect too. Good work

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! Love this song, Keith. Thanks for the invitation! Was an absolute pleasure to work with you. Even if it *was* without reverb... ;-) (And this is my first boy/girl duet.) Looking forward to hearing this develop!
