i agree with williew,, the less you use,,(man and guitar) the harder it is to pull off,,, and indeed you do it here! i love the quiet understated , personal, right with you feel of this... and that's not even speaking of the lyrics,,, simply put "to die for",, beautiful, you have made my sunday eve,, quite magical,,, r

Lovely stuff, Mr Russe. Your voice is sounding very cool indeed. Great control - great story telling, showed off perfectly in this stripped down arrangement.
Lala, x.
I was flapping around working on something else with just vocal and guitar the other day. It wasn't going well, so I just started slapping the guitar and singing one of my favourite songs.

Really nice song Andy, I've often thought that one man and a guitar is the hardest thing to put over. There's nowhere to hide. No need to worry about this. If I had only read the lyrics it would be enough, to have them to music is a bonus.

It's three mics. A Rode NT1000 large condensor for the vocal. The guitar had two SM57s on it, one at the 12th fret, one just below the bridge, panned hard left and right.
If I had more condensors I'd use them on the guitar - when I track things separately I always use the Rode on an acoustic (unless it's a resonator, that pushes a condensor too hard) - using the 57s like this seems to produce are fair amount of hiss!

Yes :)
I love what you do with words.
Gumbo, don't be too quick to volunteer - that was my first reaction too, but after a few listens I could hear a darker side in this little song...
Gumbo? Gumbo? Guys!... quick, get the spades... he might still be breathing lol
Cover of one of my favortie Beatles songs, from the White Album.
I actually bought a capo for this, after 30+ years of thinking capos are for wimps.
The Songcrafters.org Beatles II fest prompted me to go ahead and record it.
I wrote this song at a bowling alley in my small hometown in the Panhandle of FL/Lower Alabama
She blew into town on a one night Stand
Over eggs there was no one holding her hand
Just like the sauce
She became a mystery
Just like the…

I've got a king size bed, in my heart
And I'm sinking in, termites eat me apart.
And the pillows, under my bones,
Feel like stones.
Cause I'm sinking in, into spiderwebs,
And my head is spinning, so
Wake up, wake up, wake up
Get outside

Awww... you just haven't managed to post one I don't like yet!
Love the sound, the vocal delivery. But, woo, the imagery in the lyrics... and this one is just fabulous.
The song tells the story...

Oh yeah, I'm with Jimbo... superb vocals...
And I like songs about the missus (my missus didn't realise all mine were about her until she read the "abouts" on here!! lol)
I need an electric geeetar. My weary old Crafter electroacoustic picks up every touch. 'Scuse the solo, I'm only a strummer..
Anyway, the song. Clogging up my brain, had to get it out. Some lasses don't know what they look like, and some lads…
The core of the music is heavily inspired by Joni Mitchell. Its been spinning around for years in my head so hearing this song finally recorded feels good.

Mighty mighty fine.
Oh YEAH!! Wot a groove. Vox, geetar, everything... Faved & followed :)

Oh FAB! :) These are the vocals we wanted from the old version... Am I allowed to "un-fave" the old version?! ;)
Oh yeah, very nice version. The song kinda passed me by, this one of those covers that wakes me up to the original :)
Yeah... short but very powerful. Love the imagery. OK - there's only four so far. I want to hear MORE!! :)
And the stories you come up with for songs - amazing.
Yeah, me too. Wonderful voice. Love the music you make with it.
WOW! Song and performance SO immediate :) I gotta go right now - but I'll be back for more. Faved and followed...
There's something about this that really grabs me... truly inventive idea for a song. Yep, it really is all the same, isn't it?
Another goodie. Nice groove and the backwards guitar sound on top kind of eases you along... And a drum solo!! :)

Oh, yeah this wonderful. Really well pitched, could've been so over-sentimental but it's not. Love it.
Oh yeah, nice one, very nice one... Liking these collabs from you guys :)
Love that bo diddley groove. Rockin
Oh those refrains are brilliant lol - I wasn't going to fave this... but that last one got me...
Yes, this would fit in Les Mis no problem lol... Love it.
Oh yeah, I'm with Jimbo... superb vocals... And I like songs about the missus (my missus didn't realise all mine were about her until she read the "abouts" on here!! lol)
Yeah, like this one. Don't think it's missing electric - and that organ is mighty fine
Yep... like the remix :) Song itself shines through more now.
