Trampled

A quickly improvised tune with some stream-of-consciousness lyrics. Written/recorded hastily in the dead of night on Tuesday 11/27 with a short overdub session on Thursday 11/29, when I should have been sleeping.

All basic tracks are first takes. This version is a combination of the first and third mixes. I tried a guitar solo, but it didn’t stick.

Lyrics:

My heart is like a beast
that’s been caged up for too long
My breath smells of the feast
laid out yesterday at dawn
My hands stink of the river
an’ there’s shit upon my heel
And now’s the time you have chosen
to ask me how I feel. How I feel?

I feel trampled by the animals
I feel blown upon the wind
I feel rattled in my cage
I feel too tired to pretend
I feel the weight of millions
pressing on my soul
I feel the strength of ages
telling me to go yeah, go.

With our fathers at our sides
we will make our way home
With our mothers as our guides
we shall not stray as we roam
Sheltered in forgiveness
coddled by our fears
Clear as to our past
and future termination nears

Agree with Geas on the tumbleweed desert thing you have going on here. I will be listening to this on my next desert cruise....which will be tomorrow morning ;)

Hey, thanks Reg. I'll try to keep it open... I recently moved all my music/recording gear from my cramped bedroom to my son's old room now that he's at university. This was the first 1/2 way decent thing I recorded since I set up in here. I'm gonna try to keep things rolling so I'll be warmed up for RPM 2013! :-) Peace.
