The2Regs | Dancing On My Own

Aw, we tried to make this a bit more pro, but sometimes the really fun moments in life are fleeting. So here it is warts and all. But don’t mind that - just get out onto the dance floor with Reg! It’s ok: he’s up to date on his shots.

When I heard this one by the Regs deuce, I had no choice but to get on the skins. Reg doesn’t know it yet, but funk is his native genre. My vision of this song is as follows:

Most of you probably haven’t seen Reg dance, so I should explain it to you.

When Reg takes his ‘classic moves’ to the dance floor everyone else steps aside to just watch, well, that is everyone except a few of the most self confident women who wildly accommodate him. When Reg begins to dance he has a tendency to fix his gaze on the percussion section without blinking. When somebody stares at the percussion section like this it just encourages them, and Reg knows this. He not only stares at them, he sings to them, snapping his fingers like a bull whip. This, of course, drives the percussionists into a frenzy and once they have obtained a fevered pitch to Reg’s satisfaction, he turns his attention to the ladies.

He gets funky. Very funky.

Many swoon. Few can keep up. The bass groove pumps the funk through their veins. The entire club jives as a single pulsating organism, gasping for each other’s exhaled air. Reg’s guitar assumes control of the willing marionettes and the roof soars away.

The management smiles as the song ends: the bar sales will be very good while the sweat is mopped from the dance floor.

Here’s the original track.

Norm, I love it. This is all new to me and I'm digging this venue. We'll have to do a song together.

Once again,, very fine,,, long ago,, people used to clear the floor also when i got up to dance,, but it wasn't because i was good, or they wanted to watch,, i think it was more out of a desire to get away from the strange guy,, ah well youth.. well done

Saved!
