Disorient_(8EDO)
This is the 8th track in my album, Edolian, where I incrementally go from every EDO from 1 to 31.
So, 8edo is relatively interesting. It’s basically twice 4edo, however it sounds a lot different (if used in the way I used it, at least.) I used every note from it except the tritone from the root (which in this song was C), because I tried to use that in the track and it just ended up sounding really bad. This song is also in the time signature of 21/16. That is not a joke. The way I came up with it is by subdividing the measure into 5 groups of 3 then 4 groups of 2. At the start it sounds a bit disorienting, but later it’s easier to feel the actual groove of the piece.
So now is the section where I talk about the next EDO, which is 9edo. I’ve been looking forward to the 9EDO one for a while, since I’ve really wanted to try out 9EDO, as when I’ve tried improvising in it, it always surprised me with the things you can do with it.
