Void_(13EDO)

This is the 13th song in my album, Edolian, where I incrementally make a song in every EDO from 1 to 31.

So, 13edo is a very… interesting sound. It has barely any perfect intervals, and the most consonant interval I could find is the fourth (and minor seventh, which is just a fourth stacked ontop of a fourth). So, the underlying harmony uses quartal harmony. I couldn’t really find a good scale in 13edo to build a… melody? (this song is very ambient so I don’t know whether to call it a melody) from. So, I simply just used chromaticism to achieve that. It doesn’t sound perfect, but it doesn’t sound particularly bad.

So, now is the section where I talk about the next song. It will be in 14EDO. 14EDO is probably my favorite EDO, as it doesn’t have too many good intervals, but it doesn’t sound particularly dissonant either. It’s a really interesting tuning, as it kind of defies our normal theories of harmony. The next song will probably be a song more akin to the previous songs I have made on this channel, including more melodic lines and such.
